    Extended Anchoring Out

Waccamaw is beautiful. Think Amazon River. I have anchored in a little round lake a mile or so off the ICW that is peaceful. Alligators abound.

Trawlers that cruise a bit faster...

Look at Cutwater CB30, also made in your area. My wife and I had a Mainship 390, but I wanted to go a little faster. Got a Sabre 38. Down the ICW to Florida and back to Norfolk in the Sabre, I missed the bridge deck for being outdoors, we kinda felt we missed a lot because we were too fast...

Why a wooden (teak cap rail)?

Bought a Sabre 38 last year with a gorgeous varnished cap rail. Had a great first cruise down the ICW south and back. We loved it. But I wasn’t gonna sand and re varnish the cap rail. The admiral wouldn’t varnish the cap rail. Paid for revarnishing is completed. The boat is for sale. What was I...

    Tipping?

Is it proper to tip a boatyard employee for a good job? We are getting varnished because I refuse to do it as did the admiral. The Sabre 38 has a half acre of brightwork, and the employee is doing a great job.

    Dock Power Conundrum

Thanks for the comments. I absolutely will use a qualified electrician. I’m trying to determine if the power at the dock can be configured to what I will need for the boat or if I need to start from scratch. I trenched it 12 years ago and I’m still vibrating from the experience.

    Dock Power Conundrum

I’m actively searching for a new boat now that my creek has been dredged, and I need advice on the 120 V service to my dock for this future 35 to 40’ cruising boat. Currently the dock has two 20 or 30 amp cables for powered davits for an earlier boat. Our Mainship 390 took one 120 V, 30 amp...

Sleeping beneath the overhang of the 390 forward berth

Bow Slap I must be a 4th kind of people. The bow slap was comforting, reminded me that I was right where I wanted to be. My wife and I spent 7 months on our 390. The overhang was not bothersome, and with the lights out it disappeared...until I banged my head on it.

    willard 50 ft

Willard There used to be several Willard launches, double enders like liberty boats, in Syringa, VA on Rt 624. I had an idea that one would be fun to knock about in, and eventually found the the USS Willard Assn website. You might give that a try.

    Marlow?

Just sold MS 390 [I'd love to hear from MS400 owners what they think of as their "next" boat. I've come up pretty empty. Completely different style, but the new Tiara flybridge boats are nice, but priced in the stratosphere. I spent 5 months on a 2002 MS 390 last year—the most fun I’ve ever...

    Howdy, all

We marina'd in Southport. We were in no rush to get anywhere, sometimes staying an extra day in a beautiful anchorage. We went below Savannah to Isle of Hope and Uber'd in. Favorite anchorages were Lookout Bight and a lake off the Wachama River not far from the ICW.

New user. Checking in. Lorraine and I have a Mainship 390--Coppia Perfetta--that we got a year ago. Just completed a 2-month ramble on the ICW from our home in Norfolk to Savannah and back. Ex-sailors, we. About to depart for 6-weeks on the Chesapeake.
