    How many have documented vessels

Lepke has it correct , only matters if you go to another country really. Your boat has a passport and as such your government will act for the vessel. My boats have always been red ensign flagged and as such are an entity and the U.K. Government will act for them where ever they are. It also...

    Boat insurance increase

Sadly it's been cimfirmed my trawler is a CTL (constructive total loss) from hurricane Irma in the Caribbean. I have another trawler in mind and talking to the broker (LLoyds) yesterday he's expecting a increase of 30-40% over the next few months . He's forecasting a calming of rates early next...

60’ lien hwa flush deck trawler

Yes MCgillicuddy sadly, in a hell of a state. Once everythings settled legally I'll post some pictures. Still horrendous down there, residents in dire straits, and probably out of the 200 + yachts in the yard 90% seriously damaged. Huge amounts CTL's. Virtually no repair facilities. We've had a...

60’ lien hwa flush deck trawler

At the price that they are asking, you cannot complain. The interior has been poorly done. but could be improved with effort. I'd check the stability etc that other members have suggested. Thought about it myself having just lost my boat in "Hurricane Irma" . Needs a rewire and proper...

    Found this, seems wrong

Not a snubber, its for attached the bitter end of the chain with a lanyard to enable losing the chain when setting the anchor, but most important to enable to cast the anchor and chain with a a sharp knife if the anchor is not recoverable and the vessel needs to depart "post haste" (lives at...

    Rust Stains & Rusting Fasteners

Sadly a lot of USA and Asian boats were produced with 304,306,308 stainless it was cheaper than using 316 European stainless. The only way you'll solve the problem is throw the old away and change to 316.

    Teak Decks

Some real old tricks coming out! In the early 70's I used to make solid spruce masts 60-80ft , we used to harvest the tree's late winter with the last of the snow, I'd strip the bark same day bore a hole in the base and pack with linseed soaked rags and drop the end of the tree in a bucket of...

    Best Place to buy parts

It always impressed me that I can find impellors for around 30-35% of retail on ebay. The range of sellers selling at retails to -70% to clear a storeroom etc is immense. If you don't see it create an alert. I've bought heat exchangers, impellors at well below normal retail.
