    House Boat Rental?

Listen to RCook - he's THE expert on Lake Powell. I've been to Powell with him and several times without him. Here's how I went to Lake Powell with my houseboat...just scroll down to see the pictures. One More Time Around: Houseboat - 2,000 Miles to Lake Powell And how I went back. One More...

    Inboard diesel vs outboard gas

Here's something that hasn't been mentioned in favor of the outboard - the E-tec G2. • Three-Year Limited Warranty • No Scheduled Dealer Maintenance for Three Years of Normal Recreational Use • No Operational Break-In Procedure • Easy Starts (no choking or priming) • Digital Engine Management •...

    trailerable trawler

We're 28 x 8 and draw 24". We've had 4 adults, 2 kids and a dog aboard for a week, never using a marina - anchoring every night and having enough food/water and supplies aboard for the entire trip. Range is about 300 miles. She has all the comforts of home including full galley, generator, a/c...

What in sam hell have I done?

Other than maybe two engines instead of one, buying tires, and the possibility it might sink, what's the big difference between a good sized RV and a similar sized boat? For those of you worrying about those intricate and expensive systems on a trawler or RV, let me offer this after moving...

    "Business Yacht Ownership"

I had a trawler in charter service. Charter income kept me from having any out of pocket. If you manage the charters yourself (I didnt) you could easily turn a profit...but then mine was the only trawler available for charter from NC to north FL.

    Boat Dragging Onto Us

We've been in the same boat so to speak -- but in different conditions. It was 2am and gusting over 40 mph. We had green water coming aboard over the bow. I'd been up checking things when I noticed a credit card captain's charter boat dragging down on us. Because this wasn't the first time we'd...

    Dogs aboard

Others might have seen this blog entry already, but here it is again for you. First Boat Dog As I mentioned, Merlin prefers to go potty ashore and will do so on his own - but sometimes we're anchored 1/2 mile or more from the beach, or in alligator couontry and don't really want him taking off...

    Dogs aboard

Our houseboat has fold down steps. Merlin swims ashore on his own to go potty and comes back when he's ready.

    For Sale: Land-N-Sea Houseboat

Relatively speaking they are very good in rough water, especially compared to other houseboats. Houseboats don't do ocean passages. Unlike most other houseboats, the farther they heel - the greater the righting moment. This would send most houseboats to the bottom...these guys were just having...

    For Sale: Land-N-Sea Houseboat

These houseboats have relatively simple systems. Any mobile marine mechanic could do mechanical work - maybe even your neighborhood auto mechanic or a "handyman" you trust. The interior of the boat can be worked on by a home repair guy. If they have specific questions, maybe I could help.

Yes, it's a Sea Camper - smaller brother to the LNS. Sea Campers are 24' as opposed to LNS 28. The trouble with the Sea Campers is that by now their interiors have rotted or mildewed. The LNS had a molded fiberglass interior - no wood, so the LNS's are generally in better condition inside.

Thanks for the pics. I found my last conversation (2012) with the fellow who took the picture. He said: It's in gated boat and rv storage, it's were I keep my L&S. The girl that runs the office is in at 1pm on weekdays and might let you see the demo. The place is called Land and Sea boat and...

The molds are in a Morgan Hills CA yard. All the molds/parts were sold when the factory went under. This half was used at Boat Shows to demonstrate how the boats were constructed. The hulls were actually built in halves and glassed together. This video was sent to me by one of the owners (now...

    Mantus Anchors

Ancient thread...but I wonder if anyone has considered that a hundred pound anchor will regularly set (quickly) vs say a 35 pounder. Characteristics likely change with weight/size.
