New Electric Tender Outboard Motor - your thoughts?

Not a big back and forth guy, but not sure why you would even quote list and the link provided its $2770.00 free delivery, which is what I quoted in my post.

New Electric Tender Outboard Motor - your thoughts?

20hp fuel injected Suzuki goes for $2700, that's a pretty big difference in price, like others have said some work to do...

    ideal ocean crossing trawler yacht

Norhavn 60+ would certainly fit the bill (and proven many times) and my personal favorite is the Fleming.

    Registration sticker

In NY you are required to register for state registration, they use your documentation number as your registration numbers, but you only need to place the sticker on the vessel that is easily visible near bow.

Atlantic ICWW anchorage and marina advice

That's a long distance to get opinions on, maybe segment it up a bit, we have a good group that knows the locks in the erie canal well, another group in the Chesapeake, then you have Norfolk to destination on the inter-coastal. Maybe also include speed and distance you can travel in a day.

Garmin 2210 Depth Sounder not functioning

My guess is its a flush mount (most common) and the yard just painted over it, some bottom paints have metal in it. If indeed through hull you'll need to take a quick dive on it to check, can always take a scrubby pad and rub off the paint. If shoot through it could be as simple as...

Garmin 2210 Depth Sounder not functioning

Could you some details, is this a shoot through transducer, flush mount, transom mount? and as far as bottom job, are you taking sandblasting and paint, or just a repaint?

Rusted carriage bolts on swim platform

I agree here, grinders are real cheap and will make fast work of cutting them off, just make sure you are wearing safety glasses. harborfreight.com

    To Cruise or to truck?

I'd vote for trucking, not that I think you/your vessel is not capable, just from what I have read of sailors going through the canal along with less the stellar southern regions of Mexico etc, that would not be my cup of tea, some people are up for the challenge, so it really comes down to how...

    New Outboard

My vote is for Suzuki. Still waiting for Yamaha to come out with a small outboard that is fuel injected. As others have pointed out, many of the new carb 4 strokes have issues by me (some say because of emissions they are real lean), we see the same ritual every season, numerous pulls, sweat...

    Outboard Powered Trawlers

You probably could go with a pair of 90's and still do displacement speeds with ease. Handling won't be as good, outboard props (exhaust through prop) are not so good in reverse. Had a house boat next to me for a number of years, he made a really nice bracket for the outboards, but when he was...

    Long Island intracoastal

I agree not the most flattering name, not even sure how it got it, but locally was called that for 30 of my years cruising the area. Up side well protected, 15-20' deep and nice little bay beach for the dog or you can walk across to the ocean. Gilgo is next door to the west.

    Long Island intracoastal

I would recommend Fire Island, Sailors Haven and Watch Hill are National Seashore parks with marina's, just get there during the week, first come first serve. Also before that in the State boat channel you have Zach's Bay, Garbage Cove and Hemlock cove, all excellent anchorages and with a...

    Long Island intracoastal

The most difficult area is Moriches Bay, with Shinnock Bay a close second. Boat your size have transited the area in high tide, even then its not a guarantee. You could go in Debs Inlet (Rockaways) and travel out to Fire Island Inlet, that is all good water and well marked. Check charts for...

New LEHR 9.9 propane outboard tip

Thanks Murray, about the same as other 4 stroke manufacturers. Actually have my eye on the Suzuki 20hp model, fuel injected and rather light for the HP.

Largest Cruise Ship, Or Just Ugliest?

Always amazed at these huge ships operations, all the staff/entertainment/food/etc/etc/etc. Also amazed it makes money given what they charge. Only been on two cruises and it was fairly cheap considering.

    Engine checks under way

Part of this discussion should also include duty cycle, low rpm Leman just chugging along is under a lot less stress then that of one on top (planning), which even minor issue could be real bad real fast. Full check usually the day before leaving, which also includes starting up the Yanmar...
