    Solar Panel Advice

I have a Cape Dory Trawler 28. (Yes, I know not technically a trawler, but that’s what it’s called). Two 12 volt deep cycle group 27 lead acid batteries. Limited mounting options. I have 44” of aft fly bridge rail that I could mount a panel on. I can fit a 100- 150 watt panel there. At anchor, I...

    Cockpit Bimini for Flybridge Cruiser

I have a 1986 Cape Dory Trawler 28 (I know, it's not technically a trawler, but that's what it's called) with a fly bridge. I want to add a bimini for the cockpit, but the company I contacted doesn't know what to do about the ladder that leads to the flybridge. I'm hoping somebody has some...

    Water in raydome

Had a similar problem with a Simrad dome about five years ago. The unit was only a year old. Brought it back to Navico in Nashua, NH. They replaced it for free. I never could understand how water got in it. It was always vertical up on a pedestal.

Teleflex/ Morse transmission cable need help

I'm assuming you have cable transmission. On my boat with Morse/Teleflex cables, the fly bridge cable runs down to the cabin helm and attaches to the lower Morse controls. They are two separate cables connected to the master cable that runs to the transmission. The upper cable probably broke at...

Cape Dory 28 Trawler Facebook Page

With the loss of the old CapeDory28 web page, it's my hope we CD 28 owners can help fill the void with this Facebook page. The old site was a huge help over the years. Maybe we can continue to post questions, answers and images to assist us as these old girls enter 38- 32 years of age. Cape...

    Weather Accuracy??

I use a zinc/line cutter. http://http://www.seashieldmarine.com/product/salca-sacrificial-anode-line-cutter-assembly-patent-pending-zinc/ Snagged a toggle line once, it quickly cut it off. Hate to damage lobster gear, but 1 incident in over 20 trips downeast isn't too bad. Apology for thread...

What kind of area do you boat in?

Over 50 years on the New England Coast, Cape Cod to Downeast. Never had it in my sailboats. Youth- taking more chances. 4-6 knots in the fog is pretty easy to handle, with more time to react to other boats. Switched to power 5 years ago. Added radar. Saved my butt in Maine numerous times. Now I...
