    Tug Aground-Sank Northern B.C.

The tug passed the Ivory Island lighthouse, 11.5 kilometres north of Bella Bella, where its crew should have made a gentle turn to the southeast, passing easily between the rocky reef off Athlone Island and the mainland. Instead, according to a record of the vessels’ GPS path from...

    Tug Aground-Sank Northern B.C.

There are two US companies operating articulated tug and barge, in both BC and US waters, up and down our coast; Kirby Offshore (pic 1) and Olympic Tug and Barge (pic 2). As Puget Trawler said it really doesn't matter to or from where and as Ted said earlier, this thing had no business being...

    Gulf Commander

Werner; There was an era of Uniflites that looked like lepers. Don't let that deter you, just price accordingly. LowSlow77; Talked to a Tolly 43 owner in August who had spent 40k on replacing tanks and he told of another at 50K. All dollars Canadian.

    Gulf Commander

Werner; Tolly, Canoe Cove, Gulf Commander and Uniflite. All quality built boats of 3, 4 decades ago and all deserve a second look. Gulf Commanders were for the most part an Ed Monk Sr. design and were built in a variety of yards in BC. They ranged in length from 40 feet to 60+ and I think even...

    Tug Aground-Sank Northern B.C.

I was hoping this would just die a quiet death but now, as Jim said "where to begin?" Let's start with a geography lesson; Haida Gwaii and the Alaska Highway are in Northern BC. Bella Bella and Edge Reef are on the BC Central Coast. Al; the attached chart and satellite shot show the area...

    Pender Harbour grounding

Yup and if it doesn't work out they can load it in trucks and bury it at Cache Creek. The fellow with the green boathouse in Secret Cove was somehow connected to Jack Charles and he invited me to the launch of Hotei way back when. Also wonder if Westbay could do it, they have a 200t rail...

    Pender Harbour grounding

If it even stays in Canada, my guess would be Burrard Dry Dock in Vancouver. Be interesting to watch. Wouldn't surprise me if they just freighted it back to CA. Maybe just fire sale it..."gee I was thinking of an upgrade anyway."

    Pender Harbour grounding

You are correct about Daniel Pender serving aboard Plumper. He also mastered the Hecate and was Commander on the Beaver. I believe it was Captain George Henry Richards who named Pender Harbour and Daniel Point after Daniel Pender. Captain Richards was also responsible for a lot of south...

    ASD and the Inside Passage

Tom, if it is clear at night you should be able to see some pretty good meteor showers up there.

    Pender Harbour grounding

No, that would be Pender Island, not Pender Harbour. Now, I'm headed for the beach to see if I can see Mr. Hays go by Stuart Island. That would be Stuart Island WA not BC. Oh, he's going to the east, headed for Friday Harbor I guess. I won't see him.

Been all over the South Sound and the two lakes. If and when...will boat here up to May 24 and after Labour Day. Otherwise, beyond the Broughtons. Now sir, I am a score keeper and since you threw one at me with your disappointment, I owe you one... How much time you spending looking out the...

    Headsets for Docking

Lol. Thought I made myself quite clear in post 432 of another thread; never rode or boated with crowds. Only ever saw mikes on passing Honda couches. Was curious about the intercom function. Could see a lot of "float tested" phones in my future otherwise.

Pretty typical, low drama local event. Boat hits rock. Locals to the rescue. Plywood and rescue tape. Resume fishing. Luxury motor yacht Bellissima ran aground in British Columbia | Maritime Herald

    Pender Harbour grounding

Mostly old news now but it seems like they tried to clean the bottom in the approach to Pender Harbour and made it inside before overtaken. Where will they take her out? Good question. Maybe one or two spots on Vancouver Island, otherwise the Fraser River or Vancouver harbour. Tad likely knows.

I love this place for harvesting quotes and that's a keeper.:thumb: There was another thread on this very topic a few months ago but I'm derned if I can find it. The Search function is incredibly dysfunctional.
