Whale tails and such for small outboards

Thanks to all for sharing your experiences. I've ordered a shark fin classic jr. and will try it first. If more remedy is needed a tiller extension will be added. Due to mounts for dinghy wheels there isn't room on my transom for smart tabs but it sounds like the need for maintenance and repair...

Whale tails and such for small outboards

I'm hoping to get the benefit of the collective experience of the group on the benefit of using a whale tail on the cavitation plate of my tenders outboard. The problem I'm trying to cure is an extreme bow up condition when accelerating to a plane. The dinghy is a WM hypalon 3.10 rib with a 9.9...

    I hate my Head

I made the switch from a Jabsco compact electric head to the Raritan Elegance. At the same time we upgraded to holding tank and replaced all the hoses. Because of the compact size of the Jabsco, I made templates of both the base footprint and the seat profile of the Raritan. It took some...

    How to clean dock lines?

I've had good results with green or dirty lines by soaking them in bucket using laundry detergent and Oxyclean. Soak for several hours and stir a few times. Rinse by hosing off with a strong spray. I also cleaned the main cover from the sailboat we just sold using the same mix. It came out...

Boat diesel site worth the cost?

I found BoatDiesel very useful when we were looking for our current boat. Being new to power boats, it was more than helpful to be able to do research on the various engine packages in different boats we were considering. I found the information to be first hand and the tone of the replies...

    Autopilots

We are on our 2nd boat with a ComNav autopilot. The first was our sailboat and it worked wonderfully. Heading, nav and wind all worked well. We now have a power boat with a ComNav Commander P2. I am impressed by this unit. Going slow or fast it has shown very good manners. It is not currently...

    NDZ Washington State

The "polite" state of Washington simply used extortion to get the yards in line. The threat of lawsuits and of closing businesses forced the yards into compliance.
