I've said it before, so it must be worth repeating. All boats come with a stern thruster. It's called a combination of propeller and rudder, which can direct the thrust over quite a range of angles. It's all that's needed to get the stern to the dock. However, short of a bow thruster, once your...

"Diners, Drive Ins and Dives", and other Food Network programs are a great source for what works. Original, over the top fresh, scratch made food and you can't go wrong. Don't try to do what everyone else is doing.
I subscribed from the first issue until a couple years into the new ownership. It is no longer of interest. As Marin states, it is obviously aimed at someone else. I don't mind seeing one once in a while just to see how the other half lives, but...
Marin talks tough, but he really is friendly in person.
We have had boat cards for years. Just a photo of the boat under way and our phone numbers. We are very selective as to who we give them to. We're still undecided as to whether we'll give one to Marin.
But that's just me. Go ahead and snake if you so desire. Just for your own info, sharing technical info is just one of the many functions of this bunch of.......no wait..what????
Very appropriate answer RT!!!
...but you can see Canada from your bow! Looks beautiful.

We can see Canada from the bow. That is when the clouds part and the seas get low enough.

I got the standard C Maps plus C Max. I will get on the water next week and see how it performs. Also note the new bucket seats at the helm. We got a chance to check them out in 3'-4' seas, and it was really nice having the bolsters to help keep us in our seats. They are Corbeau seats...
Hey ya'all. I finally received and installed my new Standard Horizon CP 590. I love the brightness of this screen and it appears to be very user friendly. Here's how it looks at the helm.

Morad Morad VHF-156 HD
Another option to get you away from fiberglass casings and into a lifetime antenna.
Morad VHF-156 HD
These antennas are awesome. I have had two on my boat for over ten years and they look like new. They are made of aluminum tubing with about a two foot stainless whip on...

As Marin stated, we just installed a new Standard Horizon. However it is the 12" CP590, not 10". And Marin is right as to usage. We haven't tried it other than to confirm we are in the correct slip. We are!!! Yay!!
We did consider the Standard Horizon 1010 touch screen, but...

At Marin's request I'll clarify a couple questions. My lobster boat was built by Flye Point Marine in Brooklin, Maine in 1990. She was layed up and roughed in at the yard in Maine and shipped to Washington State with engine and transmission installed. She is of a Spencer Lincoln...
Do we have to look at it throughout the month of May? I fear I will sleep no more.
Marin
not sure we are able to raft to you, at least until that image goes away. It's the teeth that freaks me out!!!
Check out Ocean Kayaks for another boat with a plexi viewing window. Necky is also a good boat. I have owned a couple different models over the years. The Necky Tesla was my favorite touring boat.
One thing I failed to mention in my original post is to read all you can about kayaking before leaving site of the big boat, and carry a waterproof handheld VHF wherever you go, and make sure someone on the big boat monitors the radio. Wind and current can have their way with a novice. PFD must...

I have kayaked for twenty some years, in all types of boats, for many different purposes, and the first thing I have to say is that if you think the single/twin conversation, or which anchor is the best is complicated and full of personal preference...
Anyway, I would first have to...
