    Interesting read

That's a fact. I should have re-read my original post. It appears I have once again been redundant.* * -- Edited by Carey on Sunday 27th of February 2011 11:42:59 PM

    Cracked battery case?

That's exactly what I said would happen if you didn't hit the "Batt Para" button upon re-entry. Batteries will survive the rapid fall, but not the sudden stop.* I had to do it. Really!!!

    What is "BATT PARA"?

That's for deployment of the Battery Parachute. Re-entry and subsequent landing can be too hard on the batteries, so they are jettisoned and then float gently to the ground. This is part of the problem with twin engine boats. Had they stuck with one engine, they would never have achieved enough...

    Nordhavn 62/ New Frontier

TomGo to Yachtworld.com and you'll see about eight or ten 62s, and every one is a little or a lot different behind the helm.

    Nordhavn 62/ New Frontier

Tom May have been a special build. As I remember, it was directly behind the bench seat and table, and entered from inside the pilothouse. *The captains cabin/anchor watch cabin was about five or six feet front to back, and about four feet narrower than the pilothouse. Check this photo. It...

    Passagemaker gets (yet another) remake

Sure is interesting that PM chose to invite all of us old members back, before they even finished the site. Stupid if you ask me. I logged in with the newly assigned password, and then did a twenty minute search to find out how to change that password to one more intuitive to my memory.* Conrad...

    Nordhavn 62/ New Frontier

The 62 we toured about ten years ago did have a captains cabin right behind the helm. It was fairly spacious, and of course had the best view.* *

    Nordhavn 62/ New Frontier

We were able to tour a 62 at the Lake Union in the water boat show years ago, and my oh my, what a boat. I believe she was for sale for about $1.4mil. Everything about that boat spoke to me. In my next life, I will study harder, work harder, save all the money I can and buy one of those.*

    Interesting read

JohnI probably should have waited on the book review, as I now see I should have made clear that the book is entertainingly humorous (in the beginning), but is very serious in the discussion of the eroding marsh and the inevitability of continued restraint of the Mississippi. I too love...

    Shower water and soap

We bought a gallon of "Campsuds" which we use for showers and dishes, as it is biodegradable. No complaints. Rinses off just fine. -- Edited by Carey on Sunday 27th of February 2011 01:29:00 PM

    Track Up or North Up?

Carey, I don't mean to split hairs but the view out the windshield is HEADING up....jus sayin'. John, You are so right. Marin and I were saying just that last night. Although, if I am following my course to a tee, are course and heading not the same?* *

single screw 48-50', 3 stateroom- suggestions?

They are rare, but they are out there. A serious search would be required. As I am not in the market, I won't execute the search. *

single screw 48-50', 3 stateroom- suggestions?

Just a thought. If you add an engine, you add: ·4-5 gallons of oil. ·1 oil filter. ·1 set of belts ·1 raw water impeller ·1 fuel filter ·1 set of zincs (my engine has eleven, but most have less) ·1 more propeller to get damaged (clean during haulout) ·One more engine whose health must be...

Music appropriate for your boating grounds

Hahaha....I thought some people might get offended. *The Boats and Hos has some pretty racy content. *Anyway, I agree, funny as hell. *I really do like the "I'm on a Boat" because we have a little Boardwalk area where everyone goes to watch the boats....and it is funny to see the GUESTS on the...

Stupid Question - How to make fast an all chain rode?

With one caveat.* The bitter end should not be loose, but always be capable of casting off in a heartbeat with a sharp knife.* Better to lose the rode than the boat. * If you have all chain, attach a length of line to the chain bitter end, then to a hard point somewhere in the anchor locker.*...

Twin to Single conversion- Oh My!

OK, the first thing you need to know is that I am a total devotee to single engine boats. The second thing you need to know is that most people appear not to have my love for singles. There are many valid reasons for each, and I see no need to go into that. THE REAL THING YOU NEED TO KNOW IS...

Stupid Question - How to make fast an all chain rode?

This statement brings up a very important point. The bitter end of your rode MUST be secured to the boat inside the chain locker, or you will likely come to a "bitter end". It should never be left loose.
