    MPA Antifouling products

Is anyone familiar with MPA Antifouling products? They use lanolin (fat from sheeps wool) for bottom coating for boats and a separate product for props, shafts and rudders. I don't have personal experience with the product, but did meet a sailboat owner many years ago that used lanolin on his...

The SOB Ran My Damn Boat Aground!!

I got off easy on my one and only grounding. I veered a little too far north when leaving Fisherman Bay, Lopez Island, WA about ten years ago. One quick thud and $1,000 repair to my keel confirmed a rock strike. This occurred in an area of very few rocks in an otherwise sandy bottom.* <table...

    Missing Davit Winding Mechanism puzzle

*Janis I have no doubt that you can handle 260# with the blocks you have. Just grunt a little when you reach maximum strain.

    Flags

I'm lazy about flags. We fly a large US Ensign at the stern, on a line dropped down from our boom (If I remember to put it up). If we are out on a yacht club rendezvous, we fly that burgee.

    Standard Horizon Plotters

TBH, I would probably want one if I was going to be out-of-sight of land for a long time or in a boat like a center console that would beat the pure-T-sh*t out of everything onboard. *On my Blackfin I have an older model SH plotter with small screen. *Crusiing along at 22-24 knots in 3 foot...

    Standard Horizon Plotters

Gonzo I was very interested in the 1010i until I looked at the overall size of the unit and realized that even though it is a 10 inch diagonal screen, the height is less than 5 inches. I am now thinking 12", as I like the height to width ratio better.* Thanks, Carey

    Missing Davit Winding Mechanism puzzle

It's really quite simple and easier than it sounds. My whole goal in this setup was simplicity, and nothing electrical to corode and fail.

Anybody ever seen another one of these aluminum tugs?

Can anyone give me a link or photos of the original boat in this thread? The original link to Craigs List does not work.

    Standard Horizon Plotters

I'm looking for a plotter. Can anyone give me firsthand impressions of the Standard Horizon products? Going by my personal belief that bigger is better, I am thinking 10" or 12".*

    Diesel Fuel Addtives

In sixteen years of ownership, I have never found it necessary to treat the fuel at all. I try to run the tanks fairly low before filling, to maintain fairly fresh fuel, but that's it.

    Missing Davit Winding Mechanism puzzle

*OK Peter, you asked for it.* My system is manual, and my dinghy is at the heavy end of what my existing system allows me to pick up. The Bullfrog is 425# with eleven gallons of fuel and the fifteen horse four stroke on board. As to lifting, I utilize a pair of four sheave blocks at the stern...

    Missing Davit Winding Mechanism puzzle

On my sail boat I had a set of davits that were operated from inside of the cockpit (no duck board).* Each had a jam cleat and tie off cleat*where the turning*pully is located on this set up.* With that set up I could pull one side up a bit and then the other or use two people. Looking at the...

    Motor Mounts

So how many micron motor mounts do most of you use? I have found there to be no correlation between motor mounts and fuel filters, oil filters or cigarette filters.

    Gross

OK, here's how I look at it. My holding tank is 25 gallons, times 8#/gallon = 200#, = .090909 GROSS tons. Beyond that, I really don't care.

New member and what kind of animal is it?

I just googled Jay, as my memory of his past is a little rusty. I see that the Floriday Bay Coasters are a totally different group of designs of Jay's from the Ferries. Jay did live in Friday Harbor for a number of years.

New member and what kind of animal is it?

Welcome Ron Beautiful vessel. Although I am quite content with the Friday Harbor Ferry name (yes it is Friday Harbor, WA) that inspired the name, she reminds me of Jays fleet of Florida Bay Coasters.
