I love my Mermaid 16,500 unit. So much, I'm about to order another one to replace my defunct 25 year old unit. 5 year warranty too.

That's normal. Those washer/dryer units can wash twice as much as they can dry, so you can't throw a full load of jeans or towels in there and expect them to dry. Use smaller loads and you'll be just fine. I've also had vented and non-vented units...they both dry the same.

I rented my houses out when I was living aboard. Used an agent to manage them. They handled repairs, renters, etc. for 10% of the monthly rent. All I ever saw was a check deposited in my account monthly. That way, you have a place to come back to if you want, and you still have a "dirt" address...

I did this for a year on my Cruisers 3950 aft cabin, just to be sure I would be happy traveling at that speed. I'd leave the marina on both, then shut one off for the trip. Restart the other to dock. Then I'd reverse that, going home on the other engine. Freewheeled the inactive prop.

When you put the new one on, a thin coat of clear silicone caulk will help seal any imperfections, yet make the hose easy to remove later. When I bought my boat, the PO had done this, and it was amazingly easy to remove every hose.

I bought a Max Burton brand off Amazon and love it! Most of my pots and pans work with it, only the cheapie aluminum ones don't. Like someone said, you can pick up ones that will at the Goodwill or other resale shop, or garage sales for next to nothing.

Has anyone tried copper plating a bronze or other metal prop? I'm thinking this might be a long lasting anti-fouling treatment, but don't know about the corrosion potential. But then if we're painting props with a copper based anti-fouling coating...

I don't trailer mine, but had the same problem after a day of running. I put a check valve first thing out of the seacock and solved that problem.
