    Ford Lehman smoking??

I put a recovery bottle on my 135 a long time ago. Just used the generic one from the auto parts store. Didn't change the filler neck or anything...maybe it had already been changed, but it works fine. My 135 is 1986 vintage.

New Bose Speakers and Speaker Selector Switch

I used an L-Pad as a volume control for my saloon speakers, which are wired as "rear" speakers, along with the two on the aft deck. I use the fader to push more or less volume fore or aft, then use the L-Pad to turn down the speakers in the saloon if I don't need them at the same level as the...

    Air Conditioner Problem

Is the cooling water flow good outside the boat and is the water warm? You might have gotten some gunk in the heat exchanger when you changed the old pump out. Might just try hooking up a water hose to the circuit and blowing it out.

    Hurricane Plan Revisited

When hurricane Rita was headed for us, if I would have tried to run, I would have headed east. That's exactly where the hurricane went at the last minute. Try to run outside that 5 day cone at 7 knots. Remember they don't necessarily follow that center line.

    Hurricane Plan Revisited

The marinas are trying to avoid damage to their marina by the boats. In FL, they passed a state law forbidding that. Hell, where are all the boats supposed to go? Not to mention the damage to people and property that would result in that mass evac. Thank goodness they don't do that here in Texas.

    sanitary pump lock

Yes, you have to have a way to lock out the treated effluent in so-called "no discharge zones". These are set by the Federal gummit and you can see the list at No Discharge Zones by State | Vessel Water Discharge | US EPA. There is a lot of other info at that site.

    1984

I'm pretty sure the airlines set cookies on your computer when you're fare-shopping. I've looked around then when I went back to the cheapest one, it had miraculously gone up quite a bit. So did the others when I went back.

    Battery Advice

I love my AGMs. First set lasted about 8 years with a desulphator running on them. I replaced two 8D's with 4-6volts AGMs and it made a great difference when having to replace them. That being said, in about 7 more years, I'll take a look at the new battery technologies based on what I've read...

    Too Snake or Not Snake

You can use KO and vinegar. I've been doing it for years per Peggy's advice.

    Secure Decor

Bungee cords around a few things like fans. Museum putty holds things like lamps and knick-knacks in place. Books are on shelves with book-ends holding them together, then shower curtain rods in front of them. Also use window curtain expanding bars to hold things in place in the refrigerator...

    Diesel fuel and plastic buckets

You can dump diesel in with waste oil. Not supposed to do that with gasoline, but it's happened.

    Diesel fuel and plastic buckets

Nah, just pour it back into the tank when you're finished. The plastic bucket is made from the same plastic the fuel jugs use.

    Coastal Explorer charts?

I'm thinking about switching from Nobletec to CE. I downloaded the trial version and like it, but I can't seem to get a chart that compares to what I'm used to in Nobletec. They do have free sample charts, but nothing has the detail that the NT charts have. For those of you who use it, I assume...

They have always accepted my electrical key lock, since there is no way to lock the seacock handle. See my post in the other thread.
