    Boat Salvage

I know he doesnt write well, but you could do a better job reading. I didn't see any cogent argument, nor did he call the salvage a scam.

Advise: Best company for getting a "6-Pack Captains License".

I have heard the "greater liability" or "greater scrutiny" theory many times. The article you posted entertains the notion, but in the abstract. Does anyone have any examples of this theory actually happening? If not, isn't it just BS?

Waxed non skid with starbrite non skid wax and still slippery

I also use the Starbrite non-skid wax. It is not slippery, and helps keep the floor clean. I don't know how old your boat is, but your gelcote on the non-skid could be heavily oxidized. You can't see it because its white, and I dont know what impact that has on making it slippery. A year...

Supreme Court Upholds Back-Door Denials of Boat Insurance Claims

Duck, Is this something you have experienced, or is there a news story or something? The USCG rule says to have un-expired flares on board. It doesn't say to not have expire flares on board. Unless a fire was caused by expired flares (not likely) I cant see the insurance company reason for...

Name for stainless steel screw Fasteners?

Remember to put some Super Lube on those stainless screws so they don't weld themselves to the rail while you are trying to screw them in.

Supreme Court Upholds Back-Door Denials of Boat Insurance Claims

The alternative would be not to write policies for everyone with expired fire extinguishers (or lack of non-expired units), lack on non-expired flares, malfunctioning sea cocks, malfunctioning bilge pumps, leaking fuel lines, insufficent PFDs, etc. That would prevent "negligent" operators from...

We suspect my high protein diet keeps clogging toilet - HELP

TP habits are learned early in life and are very rarely changed. The variance in number of squares used between toilet users is surprizingly large.

    Need engine advise

Yanmars do indeed have timing belts, and 6000 hors. is probably past due if they have never been changed. Timing belts are very rare on marine diesel engines (any diesel engine really) and they do raise some eyebrows.

    MARAD small vessel waiver questions

That is a tough situation. The Jones Act was written to specifically outlaw exactly what you want to do. If you want them to approve an exemption you will have to say why your situation is different from everyone else, but it isn't. I realize the approval process is a little lax and it will...

    Grounding Video

Politely, you would be wrong. Even if it ws a "major retaurant", and I would not use that term to describe where the Hilbilly was going, "engineering" is a pretty specific thing done by certain licensed people. It is extreemly unlikely that any such person was involved in the setting of these...

    Wet or Dry Exhaust

Dry stack with keel cooler advangaes are decresed number of through hull fittings and sea water hoses to break and flood your engine room. Also, there are no heat exchangers with saltwater on the inside that require service. Disadvantage is bridge clearance. Most dry sack boats are 25+ feet...

Boats like a DeFever 49 RPH?

Thanks! If it folds, it will work. I have not looked closely at the POCTA models. I found an old listing for your boat: https://marinesource.com/boats-for-sale/listing_details.cfm?yacht=2004-49-DeFever-Pilothouse-Charleston-SC&listingnmb=100805364 But no pictures and a partial description...
