Is there a proper horn salute for,,,,

Well how does this sound as a final salute. I will pull up facing the front of his house. Start with one prolonged blast turn the boat to port and do 360 turn at idle. each time the bell is facing shore ding ding. Three turns six bells and one final long blast. Yes? No? Maybe?

Great information on going to Lake Champlain. I never knew about boatingresources.us I love getting all this guidance and I will start using it. Is anyone out there planning to make the trip from the Hudson to the Lake the week of June 13 thru 17? I am leaving Shady Harbor Marina on the 13th.

I bought the strainer adapters which attaches to a 5 gal tank. This way you can also winterize.

Is there a proper horn salute for,,,,

I gave my son the family 10 ga cannon. My wife had used it in her garden as a decoration and it rusted solid. My son is going to restore it. It was used to start all the Coles River Club regattas when I was a kid. What I think I will do for the salute is 8 bells followed by one prolong and two...

To Varnish or not to Varnish that is the question

I have been using Semco golden teak sealer for years. It is easy not expensive and looks great. On my last boat it lasts a year here in the NE. I am now stripping all the varnish on my Tug and using it to refinish. So far I am pleased with how it looks.

Is there a proper horn salute for,,,,

All great information. Thank you all. I will do the one prolong and two short blasts. The rest is great information just not practical for a solo operator on a tiny little ship.

My 90 year old neighbor that I have known my entire life recently passed. He was a life long boater and was looking forward to following my Great Loop trip. When I begin my trip about June 1 I want to stop in front of his house and sound the horn as a bon voyage. I have not found anything in...

My dogs first boat ride w/pictures

I have written posts about my solo with dog adventure. Today was a big day for a dog that had never been on a golf cart a dock or moving in a boat. She was not sure at first when we got under weigh and laid down in the salon. After about an hour she came up to the wheelhouse and I hoisted her up...

    Food storage while cruising tips.

This first cruise is the Great Loop. I plan to anchor quite a bit as a matter of choice. Going solo means I can bring enough food to last a few weeks or more. So far I have only gone on one night trips with my wife which is why I have no long term storage experience. I know I will figure it out...

    Food storage while cruising tips.

In a few weeks I start long distance cruising and want to know what tricks you guys use to keep food onboard. I have heard pull paper labels off canned goods and mark them with indelible marker. I know zip locks to keep bugs and moisture out. What else should I know to keep things dry and bug...

    WTB sundowner tug

Keptie I am the 9th owner of mine. It has been in the PNW, Lake Michigan, Alabama and Texas from what I have been able to find out. I found her in Hyannis MA three years ago. I did a lot of work on her to the point of having a new boat in an old hull. Worth every penny as far as I am concerned...

Good luck on your search, I love mine and will be starting the Loop in a few weeks. They made very few 36' and I think only 12 of the 32's. There seems to be a lot of 30''s around.
