Your choice of new electronic suites

I'm starting with a clean slate here too. My choice is Garmin! I work in the aviation industry and the Garmin products are the hottest most in demand avionics out there. They just came out with a new series of touch screen GPS/NAV/COMM's that are un real. Their reliability and support has...

Fuel Polishing system anyone build one?

I have included a polishing system with my restoration project. After a trip to the Bahamas a number of years ago and getting a load of bad fuel, causing engine to quit approximately every 25 hours, I thought it might be handy to have. The system is also a transfer pump to move fuel from side to...

Matching the dinghy to cruising style

There is a dealer just a couple miles from me that has the Livingston Cat's in stock. I'm going to take a look at them. Presently have a 10 ft Dyer Dink with sail and a Merc 2hp OB. Had a deflatable, don't like those things! The Dyer is definately a displacement hull only so would like...

Have you added below water (underwater) stern lights?

Thats one of the things on my list as well. I think they would be fun for fish watching when at a nice anchorage in the islands.

Hi Garrett, Thank you for the info. Guss I didn't make a bad choice on the autopilot make. The Control heads I got from "Consumers Marine Electronics" when they had them on close out price. They don't list them any more but I think if you do a google search you might find some place that...

    Epoxy/Glass fuel tanks?

Well the leaks have all been fixed. That is a subject for another story. Here are a couple of pix of the tanks as they currently are. Not a pretty sight.* These are pix of the starboard tank.* It is the worst of the two.

    Epoxy/Glass fuel tanks?

Thanks for the feedback guys, I agree, a bladder would be as costly as replacing the tanks. I work in aviation and the price of bladder wing tanks for some aircraft are out of sight. El Sea, I am going to see if I can get my autocad skills toghether and send that company in Bartow a draing of...

    Epoxy/Glass fuel tanks?

My 35 year old steel fuel tanks are just about history.* They are not leaking but the tops are extreemly rusted and I'm afraid that they wont last much longer. The boat is under restoration and I have just about everythig from the engine room removed so now would be the time to replace them.*...

    What's in a name?

Original name was "ALONE" when I bought her back in 91. Kept that name as legend has it it is bad luck to change a boat's name. Was rathar depressing name and new first mate wanted to change it. She thought putting a "B" in front of the name would help, then we came up with the idea of reversing...

    Tachometer Replacement

I replaced my fly bridge guages with the "Heavy Duty" series of SW guages. The tach is designed to get it's signal from the alternator and has adjustments for setting the calibration. Was easy to do and makes for a nice looking setu up. Here's a link to Lauderdale Speedometer where you can...

    Gps

There are alot of the older Garmin's on the market, I have an earlier version of their first portable with "g-chart", a 176C, nice little unit and the chart detail is fantastic, just be aware that with a small screen you have to zoom in quite close to see all the detail. Saw one on e-bay...

Removing old seats – Looking for ideas

Fotoman, Nice helm seat, what brand/make is it? Daddyo, looked at your link. Also a nice set up. I was wondering if you made/had made the bench "L" seat. That also looks like one of the ideas we had for the Enola B. Bill

    Garmin 2110 Chartplotter

Just checked Garmin's web site for specs. It lookl like the 2110 is a "non network" version of the 3110. These are Garmins first generation of "New" multifunction displays. The 2110 looks like it would be a great GPS/Char plotter if that is all you need. The drawback is that it can not...
