Is Wrangell Narrows on your initiatory this summer?

Here is a short story about big boats ( like the Alaska State Ferries) navigating the narrows. Remember to keep your radar on so you can see what is coming up behind you, and be prepared to pull over to let them by. This is from Alaska Life. com...

    SE Alaska King Closures

We may be dealing with the same issues in BC this summer. They haven't announced anything for sure yet. Personally I don't fish for Chinook while in Alaska. The non resident fishing license is $145.00 and if you want to fish Chinook it is and extra $100.00 for that endorsement. So that's...

    Hurricane Diesel Heater Question

My system is plumbed thru the hot water heater and the engines. I would think that if the element in the hot water tank would be enough to keep the water warm, than my diesel burner would never need to fire up and reheat the water. The water would instead be kept warm by the hot water tank...

You are confusing people calling them side plates. Everyone calls them end plates.

    Hurricane Diesel Heater Question

The heater is working perfectly. My moorage payment this winter includes electricity so I was thinking maybe could save a few bucks by not using so much diesel. Not hearing any glowing reports about how well it works on electricity so will probably just drop the idea. Thank you to everyone...

    Hurricane Diesel Heater Question

The electric heating element is already installed in the heater. There is nothing else to buy except some wiring supplies and wire it up per the instructions in the owners manual. That kit you are showing must be for a older or different model.

    Moorage and Living Aboard

I would have to disagree in regards to dry storage in Anacortes. There are more boats in dry storage now than ever before, and they keep adding more all the time.

    Hurricane Diesel Heater Question

We have a Hurricane II diesel heater on our boat. I see in the owners manual that these heaters have a 120v heating element that can be wired so you don't need to always use diesel to heat the water. It looks like it would be easy to do. Have any of you that have these heaters done this and...

    Seattle Boat Show 2019

Several years ago Teddy Bear was at the Trawler Fest in Anacortes. What a amazing boat. I believe we all voted the best boat in the show. At that time there was a helicopter on top but I saw the boat last week in La Conner and I see it was gone.

    Bareboat charters.

I believe that most charter companies that have been in business for awhile make certain their boats are in top notch condition. At least that's what I see in the PNW.

Gelcoat Cracks - Do they wet the core?

A belt sander is a little aggressive for stress cracks. I would use a Dremel with a small cutting bit to widen the crack a bit so it will take a filler or some chopped fiberglass and resin.

    Oil question

I have used Delo in my previous boat with Cat diesels and my current boat with Lehman diesels. I was in the auto parts business for many years and sold lots ans lots of the stuff to my customers with diesels. Just don't want to buy it in Canada. Last summer I needed some and had to pay $28.00...

    How useful is a cockpit?

A cockpit makes it way easier to get on and off the boat. You won't be 60 forever. :) I wouldn't own a boat without one.

    2000 MS 390 listing issue...again

Is this boat new to you? Could be that additional equipment has been installed by a previous owner that has added weight to one side and it needs to be balanced out by having more fuel or water on one side. Now that all tanks are full it has thrown it out of balance. Maybe a spare anchor and...
