    120 lehman stop arm adjustment

Here's what the owner manual says about all the naturally aspirated engines: Check that engine stop lever is fully towards the rear (flywheel end) of engine. Set throttle to 1/4 open and start engine. Adjust speed. Could it be that the stop soleniod is not puling the lever all the way back?

    Grand Banks v Defever

If the Defever is a pilot house model, then these two boats will be as different as night and day. The living area and the steering area will all be on the same level on the Grand Banks. Also, the furniture will all be built in so you have no choice how you would like to arrange it. The...

Latch Hardware for up/down sliding windows?

16x22. The unit has a rubber tip on it where it meets the glass. It has never came loose in some serious weather.

Latch Hardware for up/down sliding windows?

If you don't find one with a pin, these will work. Here is a picture of the one on our galley window. There are two installed on this window that moves up and down.

    Pot Puller base

Ken: I have been using a Scotty pot puller for the past 3 years. Works great. But I wish it could lift the pot higher into the air so you didn't need to bend over so far to lift the pot out of the water and into the boat. (Like the Ace puller does).

    Need advice and guidance

I seems to me that if you are a custom car builder you have the aptitude to work on boats and will do just fine.

Placement of Chocks on side of boat

Do a search for rub strake from your favorite supplier. Come in various lengths and easy to attach. Work well, I have several on out boat.

    Tips for hatch/window repair

I agree that it looks way over engineered. If all that spring does is hold the window up when it is opened it could have been much smaller. You could use some epoxy putty, fill the screw holes, then re-drill for the bigger diameter screws. Also add some more screws if that is possible.

What do you make of this?

Saw this boat outside of Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes about 10 days ago. Was being escorted by two tugs. Very strange. Has anyone else see this boat or know anything about it? Maybe being refurbished? New construction and not painted yet?

Do I need to replace batteries and with what?

What is charging your batteries when the generator is running? Is it the inverter? Whatever it is you should be able to pump in over 100 amps when charging that big of a bank. What is your inverter set to?

When I worked on my Westerbeke last week I turned off the battery switch that happened to be right above the generator. Could this be the case with yours?

    Thread sealant on engine/stabilizer zincs

Wanted: Charts - SE Alaska / Northern BC

I know everyone thinks they should have paper charts on board but after two trips to SE Alaska I never came close to needing to look at one. They take a lot of room to store also. You can also down load them for free off the NOAA web site. I did that also and never needed to look at them. If...

    Old Caterpillars "330T"

It cost me several thousand dollars to learn this. These engines will cut out and miss just like a gasoline engine with a bad spark plug wire. The governor will cut back the RPM because of the low oil level. The dip stick can read full when shut down but will actually be almost a gallon low...

    Old Caterpillars "330T"

We loved the boat. Had to sell and move back ashore to take care of a sick parent. Really a good ride in rough water and a little faster cruise speed because it was longer than our 49 Defever. Wooden boats are also warmer than fiberglass. Since I have done a lot of wood working over the years...

    Old Caterpillars "330T"

Might try researching a 3304 or 3304T . The 3304 is the 4 cylinder and the 3306 is the 6 cylinder. These boats have the 4 cylinder engines.

    Old Caterpillars "330T"

CDreamer: My previous boat was a 54 Defever, not the same one you are talking about, but same engines. They are heavy duty industrial engines designed for heavy equipment and were used for generators. Glad to hear the turbos have already been replaced as I had to replace both on that boat...

    Radar reflector

They were showing up so well because most were metal boats. IKt's the low profile wooden and fiberglass that are hard to spot.

    A Leak!

I had a stuffing box overheat one time when a small piece of rubber from the impeller on the raw water pump got stuck in the coolant hose running from the engine to the stuffing box. It was jammed up in a small fitting.
