I agree with BruceK. What are we missing here?

Does a weekend live aboard make sense?

From this point forward I would not use the term liveaboard. It could cause you some problems if you do. As you can see, what you propose is fairly common practice. Your best bet is to find a boat with moorage that you can take over.

    Fresh Water Pump

I was able to find a bad check valve by using a stethoscope to listen to it. You can hear the water running thru the valve. You can get one at many auto parts stores. Not very expensive.

    Generator Fuel Issue

I have this same issue with my Westerbeek generator. It has a small electric fuel pump but will not draw enough fuel when the tanks are low. I change to a different tank with a higher fuel level and it works fine. I also had this issue this past spring with the main engines when they quit...

    Broken teak edge fix?

    Epoxy will do the trick.
  9. Russell Clifton

    Can this be fixed?

Take it to the electrical repair shop. If they have been in business forever they may have a good used one or at least know where it can be welded. Not everyone can weld cast iron.

    Probably a boaters worst nightmare

For those of you who did not watch the video, the story is not about the boat burning up, it's about what is happening after the fire. The owners live in Australia and the boat was in Florida. They were in Australia when it happened. Now they get a notice from the coast guard that at this time...

    Probably a boaters worst nightmare

Just found this story on YouTube. Boat fire. Would not want to be in their shoes.

Fishing on the way to Alaska and once there

A 5 gallon bucket on the swim step if you only have a couple. Change the water every hour so they don't die. Or, put them in a crab pot, tie the doors closed, and hang it overboard. Just don't forget about them.

Not what you want to wake up next to!

When the park buoy failed it was a single power boat.

Not what you want to wake up next to!

This was the NW tip of Skull Island in the narrow passage between Orcas and Skull.

Not what you want to wake up next to!

This was at Skull Island, West Sound, Orcas Island.

Not what you want to wake up next to!

The channel was dredged two years ago and there is adequate depth for the most part. Does get a "little skinny" on a minus tide though.

Not what you want to wake up next to!

They are up and the tide is coming in now. All is good.

Not what you want to wake up next to!

But it is better than waking up on top of. He is stern tied to shore and there are about a dozen people sleeping on the boat. No one is up yet. Surprise !!

    Towing Dinghy and Marinas

I don't tow a inflatable, we have a fiberglass Arima. So I want it tied along side, not out back on a short line.

    Towing Dinghy and Marinas

The procedure is to stop before you get into the marina and tie the tender up next to you.(Same if you are going to anchor). When you call in for a slip assignment tell them you are towing a tender that will be tied along side of you. You do not want to be paying extra moorage to have you...

    Fun New West Marine Policy

For some reason when you walk into their stores they don't want you to know what's on sale. They change the price sticker on the shelf to reflect the sale price. No shelf talker of any kind. No way to see how much you are saving over the regular price. Nothing on the shelf that says it's on...

    zinc problem

Happens to me all the time and I have been applying a little light weight synthetic grease to the threads. I have had some luck drilling them for an easy out, but it can be difficult getting a hole started in the center. I understand that muriatic acid will dissolve the zinc. What ever is...

    Access

I don't think that backing into a slip is that common most of the time. If you were going into a marina and asked for a 42 foot slip and told them bow in, you would be fine. Or maybe ask for a 45 foot slip. Perhaps if you were assigned a permanent slip with angled corners they would let you...

wood boat bottom painting with Silicone

If it doesn't work you will probably never get paint to stick to the bottom again. Maybe do a tender first and leave it in the water for 6 months or so to see what grows.
