    Cleaning white fenders

I use Castrol Super Clean. It can be bought at most auto parts stores. Use with a gray 3M ScotchBrite pad. Spray on, let sit a few minutes before using the pad.

    How To Clean Snaps

That tool looks pretty cool. I would think you could use a Dremel with a wire brush in it. A little lube really makes a big difference.

    CETOL C Retool olours

If you continue with that product it will get darker with each coat and the grain of the wood will begin to fade away. If you are happy with the shade you now have, switch over the the Cetol gloss and build up to about 5 coats or so. This past summer I did two coats of Cetol Marine and then 3...

    Boat recommendations? (Research stage)

What you will need is a sail boat. I would think about moving close to the coast where you could meet people who would be willing to show you how it's done. Finding a trawler capable of going places you want to go, with the budget you have set, is going to be really tough to do. But lot's of...

Name change - Vinyl lettering adhesive removal

I have used that 3M stripe removal tool before. Removed all the decals and stripes from one of our company vehicles. Works good, does not scratch or damage the surface.

Name change - Vinyl lettering adhesive removal

3m adhesive remover is made for exactly for this purpose. It comes in a quart can or a spray can. You might try using a heavy duty compound (aggressive grit) and a buffer before doing the sandpaper. I would not put any wax or polish on it until you get the the vinyl letters on, then polish...

    Is this set up OK?

I suppose that would work as long as the sea cock was closed when using the dock pump out. There needs to be a pump if you are going to discharge overboard. I would talk to the owner and ask how this system works. Check out this link...

    Is this set up OK?

Is there a pump out top side on the deck? If not then a I would say that is the reason there is no Y valve. You would not be compliant with the regulations as there is no way to pup out at the dock.

Should you use anti seize on pencil anodes ?

Since it is much cheaper to buy just the anode and reuse the brass pipe plug, that is what I have been doing the past few years. But when they are removed from the heat exchanger, it is usually difficult to unscrew the anode from the plug. Sometimes I will need to drill the remaining anode and...

Groco SV Seacock - how many of you still have them?

I have these on our Defever. Looks like the cones are obsolete. At last haul out I took mine apart and greased them up and they work much easier now.

Documentation Renewal Issue - Any Thoughts?

We got our renewal done in just a few days in early January. Did the customs sticker at the same time and still no sticker. Also did a Nexus application and I got a preliminary approval in about 10 days but my wive, who sent her's in within a hour of mine, still has not got her's approved.

rate my for sale ad/price please

Overall a good ad. Seems to be enough information to spur buyers to come and look. Good pictures although seeing close up's of random pieces of equipment is not ideal. Pictures that give the buyers a better idea of the lay out would be better. Good luck with your sale.

Is Wrangell Narrows on your initiatory this summer?

I didn't think it looked right but I couldn't come up with a easier word. :) I have been thru there a few times and it was no problem. I just wanted everyone to see it from the perspective of of what the bigger boats deal with and how important it is to stay alert and stay out of the way of...

    Puget Sound Boating

You are correct about boating from the Everett area. It is several hours cruise to south Puget Sound and several hours north to the San Juans. So my advice would be to find a boat for sale with moorage in Anacortes or La Conner. Now your close to lot's of places to go and only about 1.5 hour...

    GrandBanks Liveaboard Adventure

Our Hurricane heater is 65K BTU. How well it heats your boat depends a lot on how well the installation was thought out. You need to have heat outlets spread out thru out the boat. We have 3 separate zones we can heat and each is controlled by it's own thermostat. So we can heat the...

If you are trying to decide to upgrade your batteries

Sitting in the boat today watching it snow so nothing to do but watch YouTube. Came across this video that compares flooded led acid, AGM, and lithium batteries. This presentation was done for a group of RV folks but it would all apply to boats too. If you are trying to decide if you want...
