    Mgtd...I see the light!!! I bought my 34 LCR 6 months ago...starting to learn about her. Twin 3208NA on Cat trans 2:1, I have no idea what size props are on or shaft diameter. I would love to cruise at 12-14 and have a 18-20 WOT. Reality, 2400 WOT at 12-14 knts. Engines are in good condition...

    Update! Finally replaced both AGM 8D's with regular lead acid 4D's. Charger was fine, my mechanic went to check hoses, belts and clamps, by chance touched port engine alternator and it was very hot... i.e shorted. Probable cause to damage or ruin the AGM's so that might had been the culprit...

    Imho.... I would never forgive anyone who would do that to a Bertram. I would sell it and buy what you want/need. It will never work well, as it was designed for a whole different purpose....and well designed they are.

    Thanks for all the replies. I bought my Californian just 6 months ago and previous owner did use to buy top of the line equipment, hence the agm bateries. He did tell me the previous charger had died and the current charger is less than a year old. I do not recall the brand, but my mechanic did...

    Thanks All... Capn...For now, I'm just enjoying the ride and cruising along at 10-12knts, 2000-2100RPMs. Fist assigment is to see what props I've got now. They are 3 blade, not sure on the size. Previous owner just installed new gearboxes on both engines, but he said that they were 1:1 ratio...

    Orval here from San Juan, PR. Sail purist for 25 years, now on my first real powerboat, a 1985 Californian 35 LRC with twin Cats 3208 Nat. Cruise regularly to all the adjacent Islands of PR, the USVI and the BVI's. As we all know, it will eventually get very interesting...so again...hello!!
