Need rebuilt 3208NA for my Californian 34LRC.

"I have not priced out a 6BT 210 in a long time. And depending on the dealer/distributor it can vary quite a bit. " Hmmmm...Just saw a 6BT with ZF 2:1 for $13K... Tempting ! But the other Cat is in great shape, re-engine is a big thing.... Saw Yanmar 260HP, 1200lbs less than the cat for...

Need rebuilt 3208NA for my Californian 34LRC.

I was quoted 18K for a swap. I do know very well my engine and the repairs needed are minor. But I need to take it out to work on it. If it coming out, I'll rebuild (more refresh) it. A Cat 3208 long block, factory rebuilt, standard size, not .010 or .020 over, goes for around 6-7k. Warranty...

Thanks for the recommendation Ski. Called, very nice people, however they quoted $18,000.00 for a rebuild. Found that quite high....

Need rebuilt 3208NA for my Californian 34LRC.

1984 Californian 34. Owned 7 years never an issue with the engines. Last mechanic messed up one of them..(I will not go into that for my sanity). Need to replace piston rings on it, engine needs to go out for that, so decided in going with a fresh rebuilt long block 3208NA (210hp). Any...

Need New Props On My 34' LRC

Finally got the 4 blade 23x22 props on. Not what expected, tops out at 15 knots, 3-5 seas 20 knots headwind. Lost top end. Feels with more "torque" while sailing upwind, waves do not stop the boat, plows into the seas better. I'll keep playing the lotto to see if i can get an extra $$$ and take...

    Blisters?

I just hauled my 1984 34 LRC and found only 4 blisters, about 1" . Sanded and filled, no big deal. Boat has been all her life in warm caibbean waters.

    NEMA 2000 Project

Awesome 3dog!!!! I just bought a Garmin 741xs with the 18" radome. Ohana is a 1984 34 LRC with twin 3208 and she has been with me less than a year. While on the store ( btw, got it bc the old 10" garmin that the boat had finally died), i was shown all the neat stuff you can do with a modern GPS...

    Best Claw type anchor

On my first boat back in the mid 80's, a 28 ft columbia sloop (7500lbs) , I sailed for over 6 years in PR, USVI and the BVI without a single anchor failue on an original 13lb Danforth. Did bend the shank once, got caught between rocks. 5/8 rode with 10 ft of chain and always 7:1 scope, we rode...

Norcold DE-0041 not working on DC

Hello all: Anybody have any experience with this issue? It is a loud and shaky fridge , but it has been working really well since I got the boat. Just went out for a 5 day trip, Genset during the day, DC at night. On the third day the unit stopped changing from AC to DC, now only works on AC...

    Marine Batteries 101

Bennett, need more info!!! What kind of boat, what use do you give it? There are so many ways depending on your needs. I have a 34LRC in the tropics. That for us means....genset!!! Only way to power two a/c units. I do mostly weekend trips, couple of week long twice a year. I like having one...

Need New Props On My 34' LRC

Cpr Craig... If I am not mistaken, you have a 1:1.53 transmissions, thus higher shaft rpms and smaller diameter. Glad to hear the improvement with the 4 blade, I am getting the same feedback here of better performance with the 4 bladed prop.

Need New Props On My 34' LRC

Just came in from testing the props with a clean bottom.. Upwind, up to 18 knots at 2400rpm, moderate seas 4 to 6 ft waves 20 knots headwind. Did finally hit 20 knots, downwind and up to 2500 rpm. Very happy!!! Cruise 14 knots at 2150rpm very confortable. Trim tabs not working, need them. Will...

Need New Props On My 34' LRC

I just ordered an optical Tach to check the ones installed, needed to do that anyways to make sure they are accurate, but yes, I do have 2" more pitch on them. Rated WOT on the 3208NA is 2800RPM, they get there easy at no load. However, running the 23x21 they reach 2400RPM, just as they do now...

Need New Props On My 34' LRC

Sc, WOT is 2800 rpm. I did notice that. I did all these runs with my mechanic, we will check on that, but with the original props that i got (23x21), wot stayed the same. But that was very underproped. Im getting the same wot rpm but with 2" more in pitch and 4 knts faster. I get the WOT with...

Need New Props On My 34' LRC

Fw, yes, there is. Big difference, now when I get into the Marina, I cannot keep it in gear, I would say at least 1 1/2 knot faster at 800 rpm.

    We need a generator

I'm in the caribbean, so no generator=no a/c. Totally unaceptable in the tropics, you will not find anything with a cabin without a genset. I own a 8kw Onan that is extremly quiet, reliable and about 1/2 gph. 900 hrs on it just changing oil and once the raw water impeller. Runs the fridge and...

Need New Props On My 34' LRC

Took the props to the local shop. Was advised props were in bad shape, but fixable. They are now 23X23 3 blade. Took her out yesterday afternoon, 15 knt headwind 16 knt wot at 2400rpm, cruise confortable 12 knts at 2100rpms. Same rpms as before but 4 knts faster, bottom could be better, full...
