    Voltage spike

I would rather doubt that a voltage spike from the marine caused your regulator to die as it's not hooked directly to the incoming power. Power spikes are filtered out by the battery charger as well as the batteries themself. As a side note when I had a BRS regulator it only last about 1.5...

    Mystery Noise

Another possibility is with abit of current flow can cause some props to "sing". However, I like my original theory better. Dave

    Mystery Noise

I wonder if you have the Monk 36 boat whos previous owner died while sanding the transom down preparing it for paint. I'd call Taps. Might want to do some EVP work.

Looking to buy a 42 President (or similar Taiwanese) Sundeck trawler on West Coast

RE: Looking to buy a 42 President (or similar Taiwanese) Sundeck trawler on West Coast I'd give Bob a call from Sunchaser yachts. See above. He deals with US/Canadian boat purchases all the time. Thats what I did and ended up with a Canadian Canoe Cove. Dave

Painting Yout Trawler the Inexpensive Way

I've painted my last two boats and will be painting my third probably sometime next year. If you want a workboat finish go with the single part paint. if you want a yacht type finish go with the two part paint. I've used Sterling as availability here in Seattle is excellent. Painting your boat...

    Nike boats and other toys.

Bayliner did make some 28' with a 8.6' beam but didn't sell alot of them due to the narrow beam. Here is an example. http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/boatMergedDetails.jsp?boat_id=2178321&ybw=&units=Feet&currency=USD&access=Public&listing_id=60791&url= Dave

    Experienced Marine electrician needed

Why not save a boat load of money and just do it yourself. (1) It will take five time longer then you think it will. (2) I bought all my marine grade wire over the internet. It was CONSIDERABLY cheaper then the local shops especially West marine. (3) It really helps to have a helper when...

Choosing the Right Anchor for Your Trawler

Phil, when I had my CQR I sold it to another boat in my marina after it dragged in Oak Harbor after the wind came up to about 20 MPH and I ended up being less then 10 feet from the public dock. Dave

Choosing the Right Anchor for Your Trawler

"no rational thought wanted" Gee, on another topic I'm a "rich A-hole" and in this one I'm not rational because I've found an anchor that has worked in this area for me very well after going through a plethora of other makes. Dave

Choosing the Right Anchor for Your Trawler

Eric, so far I have had good luck with a rock bottom with my Super Max. Not that there is alot of areas here where i boat that would be considered rocky. The one that kind of stands out to me was many years ago was traveling up to Princess Louisa. We stayed the night in if I remember correctly...

Choosing the Right Anchor for Your Trawler

I use to play that game. Which anchor for which bottom. I've tried them all from the Danford, Bruce, CQR and others over many years. I've also dragged all of these or they wouldn't set. Just wanted an anchor that would set every time and any conditions up here in the Pacific Northwest. Sorry, no...

    Inverter Grounding

I'm far from an "expert" but I believe on a AL boat you would not want to use the hull as a ground. I believe it should have a sperate DC ground buss bar. Running any electrical currents through the AL hull can to bad things to it. Dave

    Yacht Club

I'm in the Semiahmoo yacht club by Blaine,WA. As we live in the Seattle area we don't get to involved in the social activies. Having reciprical moorage more than pays for dues. We also have small signs on the dock that we are yacht club members and they keep an eye on the boat which is a big...
