    Excessive Vibration MS Pilot 34

Check your shaft zinc. A worn zinc can cause the shaft to be unbalanced and vibrate especially at high rpm.

    34 pilot rudder

The rudder, sand shoe and prop are all bronze. The sand shoe needs to be removed in order to remove the rudder. I believe the shoe is a guide for the rudder and not a support.

I have a 2007 pilot which had vibration/ cavitation issues. The issue was solved with a clean bottom, nicely painted prop and intact shaft zinc.

How Do I Remove the Helm Seat Cushions on MS Pilot?

I also have a 2007 pilot I have pulled the clevis pins and the seats slide off. My rails and pins seem to have been greased by the previous owner, but some wd40 should help if they are difficult to remove.

    Vibration/ cavitation survey

Thanks for your response to the survey My issue seems also to be somewhat better with a very clean bottom. It was not noticeable for the first 8 months after I purchased the boat and during the initial sea trial. I have the bottom cleaned monthly by a diver. Some time helps sometimes not so...

How Heavy of an Anchor for MS 34' Pilot

The issue is for the shank to clear the windless. I found the Ronca Vulcan 12 fits perfectly. Although I understand larger is better, it still needs to fit.

    Vibration/ cavitation survey

I have posted this on the Yahoo site also As the issue of vibration and or cavitation seems to be restricted to the Pilot 34 with single diesel it would be interesting and helpful if pilot owners listed the following info for a comparison survey; 1 prop diameter and pitch 2 original or new...

How Heavy of an Anchor for MS 34' Pilot

I have a 2007 pilot 34. I have replaced the original Bruce anchor with a Ronca Vulcan 12 that perfectly fits in the bow roller, any larger will probably not clear the windlass

    Pilot hardtop lights

I tried twisting pulling, inserting shims nothing seems to work. When you removed from the 30 hardtop did you notice the structure that the fixture was set into. Is it wood or solid fiberglass?

    Pilot hardtop lights

Has anyone removed the light fixtures from the hardtop ceiling? There are for screws which I removed but still can not budge. I inserted plastic putty between the headliner and fixture but still no luck. Has anyone removed them. I would like to replace the bulb over the helm from the white to red.

    34' Mainship prop size

Before you spend several thousand dollars on a five blade prop make sure your original prop is balanced and does not have any dings. Also make sure your shaft zinc is tight and not terribly worn. Any of these issues could sound like cavitation.

    Vibration

The zinc is placed about 1/2 way between the bearing and prop. Wonder if it would be better closer to bearing or prop?

    Vibration

Mystery vibration issue solved. Sometimes the simple things are overlooked Had my diver come and thoroughly clean bottom and check the shaft, prop and bearing. All was good except the zinc was gone. Installed a new shaft zinc. Ran the boat and it ran perfectly no vibration. So thinking the worn...

    Vibration

The engine idles smoothly in neutral at all rpm. The vibration seems to begin at high rpm while underway. It is most pronounced at about 2800rpm. It is intermittent varying from no vibration to a loud rumbling that can be heard and felt. I purchased the boat in June of 2016, she was perfect at...

    Marlow

It is my understanding also that Marlow kept the basic hull of the pilot 30 and 34. However they made some engineering changes such as using a different prop to address vibration and cavation issues. Does anyone know of any such engineering changes that could be used to improve the performance...
