    Interesting boats

Survival craft I like this one, the guy looking for a bag of beans and rice could survive on this one. The hull is a former Bristol Bay 32' sailing fishing boat. https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/1954-custom-bristol-bay-gillnetter-7950697/

Wood boat for winter cruising the PNW, BC, and SE Alaska?

Sorry for a late reply, we’ve been downsizing and moving aboard ourselves. Sounds like you landed on a solid prospect. Surround yourself with positive like minded people and go for it!?

Head smell every time Vacu Flush is used...

Peggy and her book ruined my life for a 5 day marathon "find and kill the bad smells crusade..:-) Highly recommended! Do not own a boat without her book! For me it was, mold/mildew in a massive forepeak, foul sewer system (3 vacuum-flush heads, two holding tanks) and a few body contorting...

    Interesting boats

When my wife ask “Can’t we get a boat?” My parameters were “a good boat” 40-60ft. Not a yacht, able to go to sea. “I’ll know it when I see it.” This one found me. Wood? I called the best guy I knew. It could have been, glass, wood, steel, aluminum etc. I wanted a good boat, not a wood boat? 58’...

Vessel FCC license and MMSI number

I'm attempting vessel name change and ownership change. This is what I received from Boatus. Looks like I'll jump through the hoops with FCC to get the stations licence and MMSI etc. I have been boarded (at sea as many as 4 times in one year) on a commercial boat, they often dig through all the...

    Greetings from the Palouse!

Welcome Palouser, I love your location, just a place everyone should see. GFC! Man that is amazing! I was just compiling some of that harbor info myself. It's a real slog to get info tied together. I'll trade ya for? We plan to be in Tri Cities by Sept. 15th, we have been only through he...

    Paravanes boom position?

Using 27% from stern comes to 15’. My aft mast is tapered aluminum, stepped through the upper deck to a skookum base. It’s already stayed for and aft with aft shrouds on a wide base. I have to measure but it’s 10’ from mast to upper deck lip aft. The more I read I may be able to rig up a set of...

    Paravanes boom position?

This images are a while ago, the guy I got the boat from removed the poles and vanes. He said the geometry was wrong. Too far forward I believe, as it's a double masted boat.

    Where should I live???

San Carlos Sonora Mexico. Has got it all, and generally has a good selection of well outfitted boats for sale (it’s a divorce port)

    Paravanes boom position?

https://www.trawlerforum.com/forums/s68/paravane-set-up-58263.html#post1009993 I'm parting with my set up for a 58' 61ton trawler. Our geometry was bad.

    For Sale: Paravane set up

I have 24' poles with baseplates in 3 telescoping sections. 24" vanes, chain, lines fittings. They came off a 58' I bought. The previous owner said the geometry was wrong. Our mast is too far forward. I had planned to try to rig this in a year or so, but we just lost our storage area. I'm in...

    Southern California Slip?

We are looking to winter over in S. California. 58' live on part time when we are not traveling overland. Is there a forum or thread where boat owners might sub-let their slip in their absence? I've searched Face Book and a few other spots, but have not found a forum dedicated to S. Cal...

Screens for gamers (and nav systems)

Reference to brightness, I never had a flying bridge. But some screens would not dim down enough to run in the dark. We had to send a few back for this fault.

Screens for gamers (and nav systems)

https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-computer-monitors I drove a 123’ Alaska fish boat forever. We would come to Ballard (Seattle) every two years for shipyard. I insisted on at least one new electronic upgrade every time down. I learned how critical my screens were. A sub par screen makes it...

    Aging gracefully with a boat?

At 65 I figured I got ten good years to take care and enjoy this boat. It very human friendly, wide walkways, good ergonomics, tall roomy engine room, work boat systems. No teak, a little varnish. Was turn-key when I got her, I just gotta keep her up?

    Interesting boats

A lot if not most vessels in the Bering Sea Fleet have that same low deck look. This boat was built in 1966 and has fished every season/weather Alaska can dish out.
