    Fun New West Marine Policy

I have never seen a west employee with a bad attitude. What bothers me is they are turning into "West Fishing Emporium". Around here they have turned the entire front of the store into rods/reals/fishing tackle. Only one of the 5 stores that I've been into recently had any dinghies or outboard...

    Dinghy Davit Dilemma

timb, How heavy is your dinghy? My new inflatable just came in yesterday. Its 94 lbs so I'm not saving much weight from my hard dinghy. Also if you could find some pictures please post them. With the extensions can you step from the swim platform into the dinghy or from the dinghy onto the...

    Dinghy Davit Dilemma

Angus, I really like your setup. The angle on our transom is a complication. I'm going to have to do some measuring to see what I can do. I've got to check how the ladder is attached. I'm hoping that its not welded. This boat is brand new to us and there are so many details to check out that...

    Dinghy Davit Dilemma

The ladder can't be moved without redoing the sundeck railing. A major project that I'm not interested in doing unless I can't find a better solution. I'd thought about removing the hand hold on the ladder which would give me the room for a dinghy on boom davits.

    Dinghy Davit Dilemma

There are no videos about davits on adventure marine.net. I believe that I saw a YouTube video on these davits. Found it: The video is from Adventure Marine, might be the same one.

    Dinghy Davit Dilemma

I have no problem with the davits themselves. I don't like them sticking so far back from the swim platform. That extra distance past the platform has to be adding a lot of stress. The davits work like the weaver davits. The dinghy rotates up into a vertical position.

    Dinghy Davit Dilemma

Flatswing, My eventual goal is to hang a hard dinghy w/motor off of some boom davits if I can find some that fit. My short term goal is to make a dinghy available until I can accomplish the above. I just don't have much faith in the davits that are on the boat. I'm probably over thinking...

    Dinghy Davit Dilemma

I wanted to carry our hard dinghy but the ladder is in the way. Even if I could fit Weaver davits, the dinghy would be canted aft. If I mounted the weaver davits on the two arms so the dinghy could cant forward I would have way more weight aft of the swim platform than I am comfortable with...

    Dinghy Davit Dilemma

Our new (to us) trawler came with a davit setup that I really don't like. It places too much weight aft past the swim platform. I am at a loss as to what to replace the current davits with. As you can see there is not enough room for Seawise or Weaver Davits on the swimdeck. The ladder takes up...

Are propane out boards worth considering?

I went to the Epropulsion site. That motor looks great. It showed it being recharged with solar panels. Hadn't considered that. That would mean a lot less generator time. Having a second battery recharging while you are using the first one would be ideal. This deserves consideration.

Are propane out boards worth considering?

Speed is relative. We have a 2 stroke Mercury 2.5hp that we use on both our hard dinghy and an inflatable. Neither dinghy sets the world on fire speed wise. We are going from an 8 foot roll up to an 11 foot air floor (should be delivered this coming week hopefully) and wanted to go up in hp on...

Are propane out boards worth considering?

I am considering a Mercury or Tohatsu propane outboard. Every time I convince myself to order one I read another negative review. It seems people either love them or hate them. There didn't seem to be any middle ground. Does anyone have any first hand experience with either of these? Gary
