Back at Gary's waiting for right conditions to cross Wide Bay Bar, hopefully tomorrow. Had the most amazing storms last night. It was like a giant series of strobe lights in the sky with a kick ass bass track! Big gusts too but with42 metres of chain out we went nowhere. Never a dull moment on...

Slight change in plans, Bluechip is tucked into the GSSM at Hervey Bay after a delightful 2.5 months cruising Fraser. We are in Perth with family and plan to be back at the boat late January. Bit to early to head north so will head south and spend some time in Moreton Bay and maybe head down to...

Update, new hydraulic pump solved the autopilot problem, bearing was shot causing pump to bind. As well as the pump replacement moving on board full time pushed the house bank into failure with three new 230 amp agm batteries fixing that problem! So the annual boat breakdown budget has gone in 4...

Purchase and import boat to Australia

I purchased and imported a BW 280 as there were non available here from Florida and it was a straight forward process. Suggestions, buy a late model through a corporate broker like marinemax and appoint an Aussie based company to manage the import process from pick up in the U.S. to delivery in...

Been great fun with the Clipper crew, 15 boats, mix of weather which sees us tucks into Tin Can Bay marina to avoid today's 30 knot winds. The Clipper Regatta heads home Saturday am, one day late to avoid forecast 25 knot southerlies and we will head to Gary's Anchorage. Boat has been great with...

    Great Anchorage

The Clipper cruise is scheduled to depart Goldcoast on the 28th of August so soon after then I think. It would be good to catch up before we head off exploring on our own. Finish work June 30th so getting closer to delivering on our escape plan!

    Ingenious temporary repair

My son who is now back in Airlie said the deck wash pump only allowed them 3/4 knots as the water volume was too low to cool the engine above that. Still better than having to call for help in the middle of the night and lucky weather was good.

    Ingenious temporary repair

My son who had just completed his master 5 and me2 is helping relocate a Clipper 40 from Hobart to the Gold Coast. Crossed the paddock in ease only to be confronted with seized salt water pump bearing at 3 am. Some clever work using a plastic water bottle, tape and the deck wash pump gave them...

    ultrasonic antifouling

Hi our 45 footer has ultrasonics, 4 transmitters in total and the initial factory micron anti foul lasted for 30 months in the warm waters of Qld. Seems most effective at keeping barnacles off the flatter surfaces but no impact on slime and weed buildup, nor does it work around solid sections...

    Great Anchorage

Hi Peter, yes I did see the email from Brett, nice boat. For most of the trip speed was around 8/9 knots. We cranked it for the trip back and Max cruise on the cummins was about 16/17 knots at 2700 rpm and 110 lph. Normally we run at 7.5 knots for 12/15 lph!! Ours is the Cordova 45 and we are...
