    Hobbies Boating Took From You

this is very amusing, especially how so many blatantly not only admit they lost interest in one thing or another but also that they dont think their passion of yesterday is going to get much attention in the future. my golf game surely have suffered but also general house upkeep and...

LMAFO... they are called california spiny lobster, and yes this species has no claws. my personal favorite is New England lobster, but this one is no bad either. my preferred way to cook them is Puerto Nuevo style, named after a small mexican turist trap just south of the Tijuana border...

yes a hoop is similar to the ring nets, they come in a variety of configuration but the typical configuration is a ring around 2 -3 ft diameter with netting on the bottom and some sort of pocket for bait. the other side of the ring is attached to 3 ropes tied to a small floating buoy which again...

not while underway but otherwise yes. just yesterday caught halibut, stingray and raybat (or guitar fish) from the back of the boat. i like to use a sal****er version of a spinning reel (shimano), i have 3 different spools for it, each loaded up with different size line ranging from 10lb to 25 lbs.

    Went lobster hooping and...

wow too much exitement.. we went hooping saturday night, the admiral was at the helm backing up into the upswell side of a rock jetty while i was prepping the hoops and toosing them out. the 2-5 ft swells were pushing us uncomfortable close to the rock jetty but we got the hoops dropped but...

i have those 3208 on my boat, as many have informed that model comes in a variety of configurations. mine are 260hp turbo. i find them very reliable.. and by no means overpowered. a friend has the 325 hp in the same boat as mine (38 ft californian), and his boat really gets up and goes. sure it...

Starting battery - need your input

*I have set mine up with 3 on off switches. One always on for house bank. One always on for start battery. One always off for combining the two.**A combiner charges both. So I don't have to switch anything.**If the start ever runs low I can manually combine the two banks. SD *i think that was...

Starting battery - need your input

*if you use the startkey to energize the solenoid then in fact the current is going thru the solenoid when cranking, but if you use something like an oilpressure switch then obviously the engine is running already. how is yours wired?

Starting battery - need your input

comment to FF: thats the (almost) entire point of using and ACR or solenoid, exactly that to ONLY combine the two batts DURING charging and possible some light house loads. never was intention of blue sea to merge/combine for cranking.

Starting battery - need your input

*The 120A is continoius use rating. Its higher for temp use such as cranking or pulling up a hook. we have the 120A version and its worked fine, however i would really have liked it much better had it had the manual override option, local and remotely.

Is TF still a boating forum?

I usually go there to get my daily or weekly laugh at some of the jokes. if people feel compelled to vent their political frustration there, so be it... beats having them vent their frustration on the other forums. And as Tony says, if ya' dont like it, well dont go there..
