    Solar Panel

    * *one came with the panel but it seems very flimsy, probably getting the C12 or something similar. the charge controllers are typically powered by the battery, not the solar panel, so if you measure at the batts, how you get an accurate read on the volt coming from the controller? i mean you...

    Solar Panel

i finally got the panel mounted (see pic). it has a lever type mount so the bottom of it can be raised so better absorb the sun energy (while mooring or anchoring). i really like this placement of the panel and consider to get another to mount n the starboard side, it would look better and we...

    Yachting? or Boating?

i used to think a yacht was something in the 60'+ range power boat but have found that sailboats and their owners can also be considered yachts and yacht-owners. now a ship, i read somewhere a ship is a vessel over a certain length (fairly large by our standard). my wife sometimes mistakenly...

    1989 offshore yachtfisher trawler 48

those Cats 3208 TA comes in a few different configurations and power ratings range from 260 - 350 hp. we have the 260 versions and seem like very reliable and real work horses... obviously speed is a product of fuel burn, but that you will learn soon enough.

    1 engine vs 2 (airplanes)

Peter, you beat me too it.. I watched the "docu-drama" on PBS I think it was, on this horrible AF crash. according to this tv program, the possible faulty pitot tube meant the crew got a faulty airspeed reading (disabled all the a/p and electronic flight systems which the airbus relies so...

    Pick it up

i like that one, will have to remember it as i also hate when people just throw stuff on the ground. kids dont do this, but young adults btw, Marin what you are talking about is much much bigger scale. you know it is still legal to dump stuff in the ocean, as long as you go out far enough...

    Rock fish

some fishermen fish for catch and release, not for eating. which i think is fine.. and there are limits to how many you may take. california dept of fish and game has this listed on their website: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/pdfs/release.pdf

help me identify this boat part/object

you have an outrigger on your dinghy? what for?? Downrigger, not outrigger. They are used for getting your bait or lure to a specified depth. * * this is why i dont call myself a fisherman.. though one of my motivations for owning a boat is the fishing.
