do you hook the regulator up to just one battery or to the "house" batteries and if so how is this done? could it be done through the same terminal as the generator? *

You bet................* Well actually it's not my boat, and I didn't pick the crew, but if I could take everyone who wanted to go, I would. We do have some room on our Alaska spring trip though, see the classifieds for info. The Nordhavn is currently in Hawaii, and it's a straight shot to...

Buying decision, Turbo or Not ?

the californian was designed with the GB as a model, but flatter bottom towards the stern and larger engines to make it possible for higher speeds. to me that is one of the highlights of the californians. we have the 38'. we have the twin turbo 260hp, i generally run them between 1500 and 2200...

    Loopers Chime in.

i had a chance to look at some of the responses and can somewhat put myself in your situation as I have children close to age of yours. It sounds like you are looking for a major life change, tired of Atlanta, loving the free spirit lifestyle etc. Those may not be the same reasons for wanting...

    Solar Panel

where do you mount the volt regulator? near the panels or near the batteries? i am guessing there is easily 25 ft from panel location to the batteries so is it most efficient to run the MC cable the furthest distance, that would be my guess?

    New Guy from LI

i am no expert but you might check out some of the used californians, 34 or 38 ft. typically from the early 80's and typically with twin diesels. these boats can get up and go (nowhere near 39 kts but 15-20 ) or trawl for economy and you can own these for a reasonable used boat price.

    Weekend project

i have worklights in my cockpit, guess they were installed for night time fishing, really bright stuff and not the kind you turn on while at anchor admiring the nighttime sky. i considered putting in one or two LED accentlights. there is a lip coming out from the FB floor, its perfect place to...

This will really stop the pirates

it is the same "old" story how will a civilized country/regimen deal with un-civilized criminals? if you deal them the same punishment dealt in a civilized country, the criminals dont budge only their own cruelty would put a scare in them. in this day and age of constant surveillance and new...

    Solar Panel

I don't have any pictures of my mount and I'm away from my boat at the moment. It's just a rectangular frame made out of aluminum angle*with 2 lengths of flat bar running up the middle with 4 feet to fasten it to the hardtop of my pilothouse. It's designed to hold 6 smaller panels (3' by 16"...

Tim, It is terrible news, very very sad. i know the pirates involved in that attach have already been dealt with but i surely hope in the future that these criminals will be met with much more force than the catch and release going on currently...
