Does anyone know where or even if there is a manual tiller handle that would have been available for the 1978 Marine Trader? Soon after purchase, my steering shaft broke in the rear locker. It appears to have a coupling that would accept a tiller but so far have not located one on the vessel...
I have to admit there are a lot of opinions. I am going to go with the lighting first. Upgrade to LED's. Then to the upholstery. That will give the wife something to do. I will update the pics soon.

The broker somehow talked me out of one, but on the other hand, glad he did. I love my trawler and wouldn't trade it for the world. Well maybe Chile. But that's just for the produce.

The salon seating is dark paisley red from Dracula's House of Fabric. So updating the cushions is something I plan on doing as well. Might even take it out along with lower helm and place a light colored sectional along starboard side. Other trawler owners said I should keep it original. But...

That is exactly my dilemma. All of the teak inside is pristine. I may upgrade to LED lighting from the old jeweled lights I have now. Less drain on battery as well. Thanks for the input.
I own a 1978 Marine Trader 44' and want to lighten up the captains quarters and salon. It is all original wood inside and looks great but very dark to see at night even with the addition of lighting. Parquet wood floors and dark walls makes it hard to see at night. Anyone have any...
