    Alaska/boating newbie seeking info

Welcome You have picked a spectacular slice of the world to start boating in. I searched long and hard for our trawler and everybody has different needs but if I were in your situation I would look long and hard at the mainship 34'. It's rugged and simple. I've owned 32' bayliner and frankly...

    Getting the Hell Out!

Marin, I came to Seattle back in 1968 and it's a sure fact that things have changed around here since then. I would not suggest Seattle proper as a place to reside. The towns going crazy with growth and new office buildings popping up every day getting filled with a whole lot of people that make...

    'Trawler' capable of 12-14 knots

Look at 37' Roughwater. Mine has a single engine and tops out about 13 knots. She's a cheap date at 8.5-9 knots (2 GPH). No aft cabin but lots of deck space. Find one with twins and you will get your speed from the extra HP. Good Luck

    1984 Mainship 40

40' Mainship Pilothouse I looked hard at the 40' pilothouse for a long time. Couldn't find one worth buying on the west coast. If yours is the pilothouse model then I was convinced it was an almost perfect "couples" boat. Mainship only built about 20 of them. They were not a hit for Mainship...

    Furuno Question

My new boat has an older raytheon radar system and a separate color sounder with GPS abilities. My question is that I can get my hands on a Furuno Navnet system which has everything included except the transducer. Am I going to be able to use me existing 50/200 transducer or am I going to need...

    Boatless in Seattle

We decided it was was time to move to a bigger boat and not wanting to be a 2 boat owner put our boat up for sale with the thought that it was going to take some time to sell the boat. 2 weeks later the boat is gone, the boathouse is empty and we are feeling a bit desperate to replace it. We...
