    Parrot living aboard with pup

You could put locking wheels on the cage or use bungee cords to hold it in place if it looks to get rough. If the cage has plastic wheels it wont matter if they lock or not so be sure you have rubber wheels.

Is it time to liquidate your investments?

I am only 48 and company matches up to 4%. I have been pumping in to my 401K for the last 14 years with my current company and their match, and now ramping it up as much as I can because I want to retire in 9 years at the latest.

Is it time to liquidate your investments?

This reminds me of another forum discussion from about 10 years ago, something to the effect of all the oil will be gone in 10 years and fuel would be $8 to $10 a gallon. A lot of great comments and good speculation, just do what you think is right for you, individuals can be smart but "people"...

Just 4', big Difference not a big deal?

Excellent point! I believe they are similar equipment size but definitely something to think about since those things are very important to me. Watermaker, stabilizers, and air conditioning are all must haves for me and are part of what will determine which boat I buy in the end. If I never see...

Just 4', big Difference not a big deal?

exactly the 48' has a much better floor plan and 2 extra bunks over the 44'. So far I think I was looking at things correctly then.

Just 4', big Difference not a big deal?

So looking at boat size and trying to determine where I should look. Plan is full time cruiser as you may know by my other posts, so far I really like the Defever 48' Trawler and think that size is perfect for two of us to live on for months at a time and big enough to handle unexpected weather...

    Don't Know Jack?

I think I will have to like it, plan for it to be a live aboard so think it will be just about perfect. Maybe a 44' would work too, it's just the layout and look of the DeFever 48' Trawler makes us both happy. Might have to work a little longer than planned before I retire to live full time on...

    Don't Know Jack?

I think you hit the nail on the head for sure, took me a couple years to decide I think we will do just what you suggested. East coast, gulf and Caribbean have more than enough to keep us going for years. Also the decision is in and we will go power. Oh and she is not my Girlfriend anymore we...

    Don't Know Jack?

I do intend to travel a lot.......but not sure how that will pan out vs the budget. I still have a lot to figure out and theoretically have plenty of time still, I am only 46 and we both have kids that will be around for a while still. I have an 18, 11, and 7 she has an 19, 15, and 11 so by the...

    Don't Know Jack?

Dang first reply and you sided with sailboats:facepalm::banghead: I already knew this was the truth for open water, but was hoping I was just wrong. I will go Catamaran if it is a sailboat though that whole heeling over mess is not my bag. Also the open salon up high with windows like a...

    Don't Know Jack?

Back again after just lurking off and on. Been watching more youtube videos about "Boating" most of what I see that interest me are sailing videos of people going around the world. Specifically Sailing Zatara, a family of 6 who got a 50' sail boat and decided to be liveaboards and travel. They...

    Nova Scotia's must see list?

Just an update and thanks for advise. I left MS on May 25th and got home on June 10th after 6671 miles, and absolutely loved Nova Scotia, we camped just outside of Mahone bay and it was great. Rode most of the coast of and saw lots of great sites. Hit Prince Edward Island for a night then up to...

    Nova Scotia's must see list?

I will be camping only 10 miles from there so will add that to the list for the day trips, sound fun. Also camping in Dingwall so meat cove is not too far away. Great suggestions, thanks.

    Nova Scotia's must see list?

Have any of you good folks been to Nova Scotia? I am planning a trip at the end of May (on the motorcycle) and looking for any tips on must see things in that area. Also visiting Prince Edward Island while in the area, I will be taking at least 3 ferrys on this journey so still getting time on...

    Getting put on hold

All done, paper are final. I get the kids during the week and she gets them weekends. Has her own place now about 30 miles down the road, neither of us pay anything to the other and all seems to be ok for now. Still think she will go for money somehow after her tax return is blown. Anyway, I...

    Rogue Waves

On board the Lincoln in 93 seas got bad out and we hit several "sea stumps" would make a loud bang and could feel the ship give a slight shudder. Not sure if those were rogue waves or not but had to big to make an aircraft carrier shudder.

    Getting put on hold

We are doing just that, has been this way for a year now, she is in the master bdrm and I have the master suite since I will be keeping the house. The oldest has her own room and the little ones share a room. Once she can afford to move out she will, until then we are like room mates sorta, but...
