    1962 Evinrude motor

The family that owns Hyannis Honda on Cape Cod (Massachusetts) has / had a very impressive collection of restored outboards on the show room floor. You might want to give them a call. From my records a contact would be Jay Goodwin.

Bilge Pump - Lowest Level and Profile

Have a whale pump mounted up high on a bulkhead. The pickup side is plumbed on to 3/4 pvc that sucks off the bottom of bilge sump. Electronic float switch mounted on the pvc. Pump runs 20 seconds after water presence is gone. Leaves very little water.

    Lehman oil lines

Have you tried softening them with a heat gun? Maybe use a coffee or the like to form the curve?

Anybody have this problem before? Velvet drive issue

"The chart plotter I had was so small that the underwater reef looked much smaller than it actually was." This can be an issue that can get you in big trouble. Also with VECTOR charts, objects can disappear when you zoom out. As stated above situational awareness maybe the most important thing...

In my eyes the fact that you use your first name adds credibility and sincerity to your contributions.

    Testing a mooring buoy

My guess would be they pulled the slack out of the chain that is attached to the mooring block / mushroom. There is always slack chain especially at low tide. Thats pretty much standard procedure when monitoring / maintaining a mooring field. We do it often.

    Ford Lehman 135sp coolant question

The coolant in the overflow is Extended Life Coolant. (ELF). From my experience with the same 135 and the same overflow bottle you will get a large swing in the level in the bottle based on engine temp and even ambient temperature. The full mark is not a precise indicator. As long as there is...

    refrigeration

My fridge is wired directly to the battery using one of these. BLUE SEA 5023 ST BLADE BATTERY TERMINAL MOUNT FUSE BLOCK Most fridge companies will tell you not to wire it through the circuit breaker panel to minimize voltage drop. Wiring directly to the battery also prevents accidental shut off...

Sea Water Pump for Danfoss / Polar Mate Refrigeration

Any thoughts / experience regarding which sea water pump for my Danfoss / Polar Mate refrigerator? Is the eighteen dollar Amazon flavor adequate or do I need the Four Hundred dollar flavor that Polar Mate recommends? Regarding water flow I would assume more is better up to a point? Currently...

    LED help please

Seems like fuse protection should be changed? Maybe 3 amp in line just before the string of LED’s?

Anybody have this problem before? Velvet drive issue

A cheap photo tachometer will allow you to measure shaft revolution and engine revolution. Divide the two together will give you your ratio and an idea of slippage if any...

    Non Skid is Non Clean

Bar Keepers Friend works magic on some stains. Make a paste rub in with a tooth brush and let it sit on the stain for 30 minutes.

    conventional slip vs end tie

Our boat has an end tie. We got hit last year by the boat yard while they were moving another boat. Extremely apologetic and they made good for any damage but still a PITA. I would stay where you are. My 2 cents.

    oil

The "CH 4" or higher rating on the oil container is what you need to be concerned with. Shell Rotella or anything similar is fine. https://www.api.org/products-and-services/engine-oil/eolcs-categories-and-classifications/oil-categories#tab-diesel-c-categories

Welcome. Always happy to have another GB owner on board. We sailed around Mallorca last September. Was a nice couple of weeks.

    Auto Pilot

This sounds like an old anolog unit. They have relays in the “brain”. One turns the boat to port the other to starboard. The points in the relays are known to corrode over time. If the points stick the boat will go in circles. Easy for an old school electronics type person to test and repair...

1995 Raymarine autopilot on GB 42

In our 36 the compass is under the forward V berth. Is a door that opens for access.

One more alternator question (F-L 120)...

40 years in and around auto service business. Never heard of a loose belt ruining an alternator. I would tighten the belt and test the charging system / battery as a whole before replacing anything. Maybe something else loose? Connections?

Rigging Mast and Boom on GB32

There is a 4 to 1 block and tackle that runs from the mast head to the outer end of the boom. (2 pulleys with 2 shives on each pulley) Same thing from the outer end of the boom down and is connected to whatever you are lifting. Pretty straight forward. You are handling two lines. One for each...

Rigging Mast and Boom on GB32

The standard mast and boom on your 32 or our 36 is not set up to lift heavy weights. I have no idea what weight it was / is rated for. There is no forestay and as you mentioned the forward shrouds are not solidly anchored to the fly bridge. IMO It might be fine for a small empty dingy without an...
