Leaving boat on anchor long term

Try insurance from your car and other insurance. Some companies are very helpful. Putting the boat on the hard for most of the time seems best. Good luck!

How often do you need your lower helm?

I use the pilothouse (lower helm) all the time. The Command Bridge (Flybridge is great fun), but I like to have a place where I can pilot regardless of the weather.

What Age Do You Think You Will Hang It Up?

We restarted boating in our 70’s and 80’s respectively. One of us joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary and took lots of classes. We use help when we need it, but we got a 29’ Ranger Tug which comes with higher rails, bow and stern thrusters, stand up head, iinside-type stairs to the command...

We did ok, but I was thinking that it might be easier with night vision goggles. Hard to find your way through mooring fields in the dark. I prefer to come in daylight, but it...

    question regarding strenth of binoculars

I have a monocular. Difficult to hold steady. I do not use it on the boat. I use 7x50’s I have had them for thirty years. I cannot recall the brand, but they have been all over land and sea. I think that I got them from B&H.

Size....not that it matters....of boats of course.

Bigger Boat? We have a 29’ Ranger Tug. It is perfect to entertain six, have dinner for four and sleep two, a small dog and and a few grandkids. It is easy to pilot, sips diesel and is lots of fun.

    Winter over spots

Do you think that we would have a tough (very rocky) trip south through the ICW from NYC to Vero or somewhere around there? We have a 29’ Ranger Tug. She is pretty solid, but we have a flying bridge so she is somewhat subject to high winds. I do not anticipate too much trouble as we are...

    "We Need a Bigger Boat"

We are seniors and have a 26' Sea Ray Sundancer 260. We are relatively new to boating and want a trawler (or something) more comfortable, easier to maneuver (bow and stern thrusters), safer (less balancing on the forward deck and more and higher rails), a side door, and about 29-32 feet. I...
