    Nordhavn alternatives

Not all Nordhavns Not all Nordhavn’s are ocean crossers, Nordhavn Coastal Pilot 59’, twins, 15/16 kt fast cruise, 5’ draft, simple systems (albeit robust), modern layout, ocean capable from Alaska to Maine on its own bottom, can do the loop, easy for a couple, stand up engine room, should I go...

    Tool ID

Door lock If you look on your side door from the inside you’ll see a hole, it locks the door to prevent key access or something like that. I think it also works to lock your floor hatch to the engine room if my memory is still working ( at least on our 47 Europa) Mike

Trawler VS Express (Space vs Speed)?

One word “stability” We had a 47’ GB Europa cruised comfortably at 18kts or 8 kts but if it was choppy rolling or confused you had to run fast, slow would wreck everything and everyone onboard. Most fast hulls don’t have stabilizers. If you’re going to be cruising 2-6 months (we do 9 - 10) get...

    Nordhavn adopts semi-displacement design

N5902 owner here. Getting a kick reading the comments and speculation from way back when. A little over 4500 nm on her from south Florida to the Chesapeake and now in the Bahamas. Will run forever at 8.5 kts or gobble diesel at 18 kts and does most everything we need for 10 months a year of...

    Training Captain Kudos

Thanks BandB. I grew up on the water, sailed, paddled and motored all over the South East and you are correct, Chicago to Grafton was an interesting place. Even with my OUPV and experience I would not have been fully prepared. Captain Matt reinforced the old addage of failure to prepare ... and...

    South From Michigan in October?

I think we were looking at the same boat, Lady Ann? We bought it! Doing the service and little piddly things now including props and bearings... Hurricane Matthew has disrupted our departure plans of this coming Monday. If you are delayed at all we will probably be leaving the following week.
