    Rebuilding the Abaco's....?

Abandoned million dollar houses also. I've always said, I wouldn't want anything in the islands that I can't bring home by pulling up the anchor!

    Hollywood (Navy) shower

Actualy, I think if you spend a lot of time in the Bahamas it just might pay for iitself. Last year I got frustrated after a night in the Bahamas when the water bill was bigger than the dockage and electric bills combined. I ran some numbers and based on the 45c/gallon they were charging I...

    Very dirty shore electric cables

Yes, by replacing the cord (granted I had a hot spot developing in the cord). In between that I use stabright's shore power cable cleaner.

    Unleaded gas in diesel tank

This was posted a while back but... The same thing happened to me in the Bahamas once. A few minutes into pumping the dock hand guy yelled "stop the pump!." He gave me the gas hose instead of diesel and of course, being the Bahamas, they had green hoses connected to both pumps. I ended up...

    I just lost my brother...

Sometimes you read something and it is a resonating gut punch. So sorry for your loss. I know you will be a great uncle. Although your story relating to a minor surgery is exceedingly uncommon, as an anesthesiologist every once in a while I feel like something (personally I'd like to think...

    Weather reports in the Bahamas

You can suspend it whenever you want but I find I rarely do. I find I use it (especially the weather radar) even when offshore in FL. You are correct though - it isn’t an inexpensive option.

    Weather reports in the Bahamas

    Side stepping

Some boats do it easily (my old Stamas express did it perfectly) and some don’t because the prop walk is too powerful to make using the rudder useful here. My Viking wont really do it at all. Let’s say you want to go to the port... Put hand on bottom of wheel and move your hand the direction...

Active Cap't and Trusting your Sources

Good article. I always take what I read on active captain with a grain of salt and I'll confess I try to decipher if the info is from the sailing crowd or the powerboat crowd. I tend to trust one more than the other. ;)

    Garmin and Active Captain Help

I just looked at the Bahamas. No information whatsoever. I hope they get it added and make it usaeable. Not a Garmin fan so I’m not going to hold my breath.

    Could you guys do it??

Those are often charter boats; “We went out on the pink boat and had a great day...”

    V-berth bedding

These are awesome and can be zippered together to make a double. They also roll up nicely and can be embroidered with a personalized name. https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/43014?page=cabin-fleece-sleeping-bag

I showed that to my wife and she burst out laughing...

    Weather reports in the Bahamas

Sirius weather works great for me and I also subscribe to "Marvs weather service" which is great when we have wifi or cell coverage.
