    Mechanics of Princess Stove

That's it! Yes, it was the right element that worked while I was using the stove. I did notice the left element had yellow tape or something near the connection and the others had blue. I do have the manual I'll take a look at it. Thanks so much.

    Mechanics of Princess Stove

Can someone educate me on how Princess stoves work? It's a new-to-us boat. On the left side, there's a switch for TOP BURNERS (in the up position) or OVEN (down position). So I figured only one worked at a time. Had a couple of drinkies and while the potatoes were cooking in the oven, I put...

MMSI from the FCC - US

To travel in foreign waters, yes, we do.

MMSI from the FCC - US

The captain has an RROP and our CURRENT sailboat has the MMSI (yes, SA) as we travel in foreign waters. So according to others (and what I've read), I need to cancel the current MMSI on the sailboat and apply for a new MMSI on the trawler. We already have the RROP so no need to reapply for...

    Need help choosing a direction...

Why not a boat that can do both? Our new-to-us "trawler" isn't a real trawler, but it's not necessarily a strictly "go fast boat" either. Best of both worlds.

    42' Nautique - 1989

Here she is. New canvas, new shafts, new rudders, new bottom paint, including sanding and having primer AND bottom paint applied, fuel polished, refurbished generator, refurbished engines, new electronics, all new through-hulls and once we arrive on Sunday, a new name! Just Sayin'. Launching...

MMSI from the FCC - US

Thanks, everyone. That was helpful. We'll apply for a new MMSI number with the FCC as we do travel abroad. Our AIS is receiver only so we don't have to worry about that part. Thanks, again.

MMSI from the FCC - US

Forgive me if this has been covered, but I did a search and couldn't find anything directly related to my question. The captain (or boat) has the MMSI number from the FCC currently registered to our sailboat. We are transitioning to our trawler. Can we take that number with us and change...

    M/V or M/Y

While I get the general drift of most here that they are "boats", almost all boat cards I've received from anyone who has a sailboat has S/V Whatever. Any motor vessel card I've received does not have a prefix. When talking with anyone, we call our boats "boats". But for bridge tenders, we...

    Dog relief while underway

Nothing has worked for our male Jack Russell Terrier. Nothing. We've learned that he can hold it (both pee and poop) for at least 36 hours. :ermm:

    Surveys Drive Values Down

We just bought our first trawler at the end of July (currently living aboard our sailboat) in Annapolis. We had a boat surveyor (who happened to run the yard in Taiwan that built the boat) and an engine surveyor. The boat is almost 30 years old so of course we knew there would be some issues...

    Marine Couches

I know this is an old thread, but I searched using "furniture". Our new to us boat has pinkish, ugly and uncomfortable furniture. The door opening is only 24" which really limits options. This site is PERFECT and better than Ikea due to the 100's of fabric choices. Just wanted to say THANKS!

    Hi!

Guns? We have a flare gun. And how did you know the anchor IS too small! Definitely getting a bigger, better anchor. :) Yes, 42' Nautique with twin diesels. The interior is pristine and we love the aft cockpit. Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.

    Hi!

Hello, everyone. New "trawler" owner and not the main navigator. But I'm the one in our partnership with the most questions. The Captain is well-versed with sailboats, but this will be a totally new boat to him/us. We bought a Nautique that needs some work. We are currently living on our...

List vs Sale Price? / Buyer's Agent?

We just bought our Nautique (kha shing) last month and went through the seller's broker. We didn't feel that there were any issues. We had a full boat survey (from a person who actually was part of the production facility in Taiwan) and we had a separate engine survey. We based our offer...
