    Albin 25 window questions

These windows seem to be just plexiglass fitted into a groove in the inside of a black rubber weatherstripping, that also has a larger outside groove that has the fiberglass fitted into it. I haven't taken one apart yet so not sure if there is any caulking. We've seen a number of A25's and...

    Albin 25 window questions

After 4 years on its trailer Snug is now floating in our local marina. But we've noticed our one window that leaked has turned into four or five leaking window. So I have questions: 1. Is there a name or type associated with these windows (to improve online searches)? 2. Are these repairable...

    The story of Joshua Slocum

Wow, do these threads wander. Sometimes in a good way. Slocum's book used to be required reading in Canada for grade school. Started disappearing from curriculum just before I started school in the 1960's. Read it anyway. Good read.

    1977 Marine trader questions

Our 1984 MT 34 had a mast. Original was mostly decorative but its intended use was as a steadying sail in cross waves, and to reduce hunting at anchor. Both uses require decent sail and tackle. We are Great Lakes but still installed a by pass filter, prelude, dual racor primary with spin on...

$20 to dock your dinghy for dinner.

The local businesses, city or state should fund a dedicated dinghy dock if traffic is high. Get money back and more in business profits, employee income tax and other benefits. Just my opinion.

    Fuel stabilizer questions

We live on an island in a rural area in N Ontario and have 3 outboards, 2 lawnmowers, 3 chainsaws, 2 snowblowers, 2 motorcycles, a wood splitter, 2 generators, a pump, a rotavator, a trimmer, etc. all gas. So for years now I have only purchased premium gas which has no ethanol in our area, and...

    Seacock Not Fully Closing

Thanks. There was, and it did stop... But just after the full close point. Wasn't sure how to fix or adjust but it was a minor issue once I was aware. Before that I used to get around five gallons under the engine if I did a water pump replacement afloat. Have moved to new boat and current owner...

    Seacock Not Fully Closing

I had similar problem but seacock was going past stop. I learned to back it off just a tad and the drip stopped. You just had to find that sweet spot.

    Shoring up

Just now watched a news report on CTV ( a Canadian network) about a rescue within the past 24 hours of what looks like a 45 foot motor yacht sinking after striking rocks in the Fraser River B.C. Footage was taken from a helicopter or drone. Looks like it had stabilized with decks still above...

    Shoring up

I don't know how accurate this is but I read years ago that salvagers use old kapoc life jackets (outlawed around 1990) to stuff into large holes as they are a plant material that swells when wet, plugging the large holes. I carry one with many of the other items mentioned above. These old life...

    Marine Trader 34DC

I just measured ours yesterday and it was about 14' to the top of the windscreen. Now I have a few questions on height and the mast... Our 1980 MT34 has a non-original aluminum mast.* PO said the original was wood.* Anyway, in a week from now we are going to go through a canal system in Canada...
