Also, just so you know dave dirty fuel trains of today are in fact dirty fuel over electric and it is this combination which allows it to haul cars ranging miles long. Because electric motors have full torque at any range of power input. However, in my build i aime to break the rules in boat...

You may be right because land test will give different reading. However, one 12hp motor can do the work of a 40hp/cb engine. Having said that i always have a backup for even my back. You cant forget im experimenting so i don't have all the answers and worse case ill put an outboard on it and...

Janice142, how long does it your alternator to charge your bank? How many amps does your unit produce under way? I can tell you spend a lot of time with your boat, do you live aboard? Happy sailing..

I have thought of that, however being able to regen under way will help against that and i planned a generator in the build which will be able to run the whole boat. I wont this boat to take care of itself as long as i can man it. So it has to be tougher than me and im a working fool, sad to say.

To save yourself some money get a plug and play system with a Mppt controller and mono panels most powerful you can get for your space and dollar. But search anyway, its rare but you may get it cheaper than a kit. The key is as much power as you can for space and won't go wrong. Rule of thumb...

FH75 very good advice and would do the same and if i could i would also add wind power as well. Mppt aer the best for getting the most from your panels and protecting your batteries however for even more protection i would use a desolfater and i hope i spelled that. Have a great day!

Thank you for your feedback, however this boat has a brain child of mine for some years now. I thought on every aspect of this boat and others before settling on the trawler. I can't seem to find one on the market as i would it to be. Therefore I have to build it. Also i can't afford one anyway...

I am working on that and so far im finding balance and timing is key. Balance in terms of using that right batteries because lithium batts can handle a fast charge better than acid batts can and they can discharge at full power much longer than lead acid. Therefore timing is what will make it...

The Hardy Star thanks you as this will be the name of my boat. However, trawler a so i thought was a style of boat which tells you what it can do and handle. My thoughts of what a true trawler is sets it barrings on what i want to use the Hardy Star for. Everything, fishing mostly, cruising...

I tend to agree with you however the boat i want to build is a trawler but no dragnet. It will be on the slow side but powerful. As i said before, im asking a lot from my boat know i can do it. Hell its been done in other countries already just not in configuration that i want. If i didn't have...

I like how you think, however this boat is my concept boat which will be built to regen underway. Therefore i will be designing and building the propulsion system. I don't like torqueedo as they cost way to much for such a short range. I want my hull with twin screw drive and keel. Wont need a...
