    Sea Ray 390 Motor Yacht

We have a 2005 Sea Ray 390 Motor Yacht with the same engines and just completed the Great Loop on 4/13/23. For us, it was the perfect boat, lots of room, fast when you want, and reasonable fuel economy at trawler speeds. At 1000 rpm we burn 3.4 gph and travel at 8.6 mph. Like most loopers, we...

Trawler VS Express (Space vs Speed)?

Agree all boats are compromises. We have a 2005 Sea Ray 390 Motor Yacht which works for us and I believe meets many of your criteria. Fishing might be awkward, but cockpit is at stern. We have also owned a sundeck trawler, custom aluminum full displacement trawler and a power catamaran. Each...

Active captain auto guidance like Navionics?

You can do this. Use navionics app auto route feature, then export the route directly into Active Captain on your phone. From there auto sync should update your plotter next time you connect to it. I do this all the time.

Not So Slow Boat for Puget/Desolation Sound

I used to own a Fontaine Pajot 37 Motor Yacht and it has some very nice characteristics, but there was not a truly comfortable place to sit on the boat. All seating is builtin and would not be easy to change this. Great charter boat though, which mine was before I bought it.

Look at Sea Ray 39 Motor Yacht. Lots of space, fast, economical at slow speed. Two work areas would be salon and climate controlled cockpit. About 170 with twin diesels.

    Stabilizers?

Had friend with a Defever 44 without stabilizers when he left NC in the fall for Bahamas. He had stabilizers when he returned the next summer. Think the need for them depends on how easily you get seasick.

    Dinghy Caddy

The dinghycaddy uses a block and tackle to raise and lower dingy. Very simple and takes very little strength. Once dinghy is launched you can use caddy as a large swim ladder. Motor stores on dinghy and in an up right position which I think is required for 4 stroke outboards. Also you can...

    Dinghy Caddy

I have a Dinghy Caddy and like it. Much easier to launch than our old boat with dinghy on top of Sun deck. We have an aluminum rib we can 8hp 4stroke.
