Heating oil as for boat fuel?

I'm so sorry to hear that Fast Fred has passed. His posts over the years were very informed, pragmatic - and often provocative! He was also generous in that he welcomed visitors to his dock at any time; I believe it was well protected as well. Rest in peace Fred.

    NT32 “Emma B” cruises PNW

Hey there Frank, welcome back to paradise! I'll be cruising Desolation off and on for the rest of the month so will keep an eye and ear open for Emma B. Will be great to catch up - it's been a while! Otherwise still at the same berth on I dock.

    What size chartplotter display

Getting back to the OP's original question; one factor in choosing screen size is how close it will be to your eyeballs. Eg our 12" screen in our NT42 pilothouse is about 3' from my eyes while the 7" screen in the dinghy is about 18" away. There is a slight difference in detail I suppose but...

Yes, many of the old Romsdals and Malahides had twin Volvos that were connected to a single prop.

    25 - 35’ trawler/ motor sailor wanted

A number of years ago I listed my Albin 25 MS on Yachtworld; the boat was located in Maple Bay on Vancouver Island BC. The buyer drove up from Florida, picked up his premade boat trailer in Tacoma, and drove up to Maple Bay. Once there he checked her out and trailered her back to Florida with...

    Vaccuflush head cycling

My thoughts exactly. We've had ours (two VF systems) on Blue Sky for nine years without major issues. Yes, we do have the recycling happen on occasion but using Hollywood's procedure fixes it every time, although I don't turn anything off; I just press down on the peddle, brush around the...

    Heating Systems

Another product you might want to consider is Planar. A dock friend installed his a couple of years ago and is very happy with it; inexpensive, rugged, and looks to be of good quality. It's major downside at the moment is that it is a Russian product although their website suggests they are...

    Interesting boats

I had a chat with the owners a few years back when Patricia Lee was docked here in Campbell River. The exterior looked fabulous ( circumstances prevented my going onboard) and i was able to glean some interesting info from the owners. Being an early production 64 she was much lower than later...

    Albin Fuel Burn

I misspoke in that our 36 HP Volvo could reach 11 knots as well but as Eric says, your view was limited.

    Albin Fuel Burn

The hourly burn rate was so outstanding that it was a non issue and I can't remember what it was! I'm sure the 27 HP Yanmar was more efficient than the much older 36 HP Volvo, but filling the 20 gallon tank was a rare event.

    Albin Fuel Burn

The Albin 25 is an amazing boat. We had the same model, 1976 Albin Deluxe, and had many adventures on her, selling only because of relocation as well. Later we picked up another Albin 25, a 1972 model, and enjoyed it until we realized that our now much larger family didn't fit as well anymore...

    Bow launcher for Rocna 33

This is my roller setup on my Nordic Tug 42. That is a Rocna 33 on the Anchorlift bow setup. My apologies for the orientation - it doesn’t want to right itself.

I have friends that own a No Limits vessel ( No Limits 1750 Sea Wolf, covered on their website) and I can assure you that there is no way it could have the top removed to access anything below.

Kobelt controls for 42' Formosa trawler?? Which models??? Where to buy???

Strongly recommend Kobelt; if you look at their inner workings you will see very robust engineering.

    Power Washing ?

We've had a Karcher for 5-6 years and it has never let us down. Against conventional wisdom however, I wish we'd purchased a more powerful one. At the time we could get either a 1600 PSI unit or a 2400 PSI unit, and we went with the 1600. We found right away that we had to hold the nozzle so...

    Bow Thruster Manufacturer opinions

Agree 100%. We have WESMAR 13 HP bow & stern thrusters on Blue Sky (35000 lb NT42) and they have worked flawlessly since installation in 2014. Pretty much the exact same setup as Alfa Mike mentions. I have laid on those thrusters for extended lengths of time and they have never cut out.
