Curt, My understanding of on mixing old and new LEAD-ACID batteries is that the new batteries adopt the profile of the old/accelerated aging--sounds terrible to me. They do still hold a charge but not as well as say 20 months ago--no surprise. I'd guess they are at 60% capacity.
Thanks...
Selling my Xantrex 458 with remote panel. Currently installed on my boat in Seattle--works perfectly. Replacing b/c it's not designed for lithium charging--I know it sort of works for that but not really. This is a 2018 model. I will be removing it from my boat in Shilshole end of May. I...
I'm about to order 2 EG4 batteries for my house bank. I'd get free shipping (save $325) if my order has another $1k in it. That's one more battery.
If anyone else in the Puget Sound area is going to order an EG4 then lets combine the order to save on shipping.
I'm probably ordering from...
I'm getting ready to order 2 EG4 batteries from InvertersRus. $999. I get free shipping (to Seattle) if I order 3. Anyone else in the Seattle area ready to purchase one or more? I'd combine the order and get reimbursed when its picked up from me.
The batteries will get housed in a modified...
No shortages of opinions on this thread but it doesn't sound like anyone has gone down the arbitration route as prescribed in my P&S (from my contract "pursuant to the rules of the International Yacht Arbitration Council")
My idea that I have a "case" stems from my reading of an article in...
Has anyone collected $ damages by working through the binding arbitration clause in their Purchase&S agreement on their boat? I'd love to get some advice before I head down that road.
I discovered a very hidden problem (rust under epoxy and paint) after my boat purchase. The temporary...
Has anyone purchased solid stainless steel (3216) rub rails recently? I'm looking for a supplier in the Northwest (or get it shipped in). My GB 42 needs about 120' of 1"x1/4" to complete.
What I'm finding is 20' lengths for $1,000 from Taco Marine. Ouch!
Cheers, Rob
Hal, Thanks for the meticulous answer and picture. I had thought my hatch was original but obviously it was not being a Lewmar aluminum hatch. I've only owned the boat for a few months so lots to learn!
Rob
Thanks for the suggestions on fixing the hatch. Unfortunately this hatch has issues with the plexiglass as well as frame. Its time to replace.
Anyone with access to their boat that could give me the outside frame dimensions (from topside)?
Later this month I'll fly out to my boat for 4...
I'll be removing 2 aluminum fuel tanks that were custom made for the lazaret of my 1988 GB42 classic. They sit outboard on each side. Rough measurements are 23"x21"29" (WxDxH). The tanks fit flush to hull and former owner of boat said they slide in perfectly.
I'm removing them as I want...
I need to replace the original Lewmar hatch on my 1988 GB 42 classic (its leaking and plexiglass is crazed). Unfortunately I don't have accurate measurements for the exterior hatch frame and I live 1,400 miles from my boat so....
Has anyone replaced their hatch? If so what size Lewmar, Vetus...
I will be installing a new chartplotter on the flybridge of my GB42 and am wondering what type of housing I should build to both secure it for viewing and for security--so it's not stolen. The chartplotter has a 12" screen which will be hard to hide if just mounted with the Garmin bracket on...
Thanks Drew, sounds like a great fix strategy.
I had thought that portion of the hull would be solid glass for strength considering the cleats are fastened in. Next time I'm in the engine room (every time I'm on the boat-uggh) I'll take a look at that area to see what is accessible from...
Greetings, I'm in need of the window length in the aft head (starboard side) on a Brand Banks 42 from the 1980's. I'm trying to order curtains and measured all windows except that! Unfortunately I live a thousand miles from my boat so....
I'm assuming the window is the same height as the...
Hawsepipe repair
Hi MV Seafarer, you mention repairing your hawsepipe attachments in the thread. How did that go? I recently shipped a new to me GB42 and the outer section of 2 hawsepipes partially popped out under the strain of the straps securing my boat to the ship. Looks like 2-4 of the...
Thanks all for your thoughts and advice. Today I’ll pull oil from the engines for analysis after some sea trials.
Hopefully it all goes well and I end up with a boat. I’ll let y’all know when where the other.
Hi all, I'm looking at purchasing a Grand B. 42 Classic and was wondering about the engines. One boat has the John Deere 6404DF's. Any opinions on these--are pumps and other parts impossible to find?
I live in Denver and the boat will be near Seattle. Looking forward to NW cruising...
