    sharrow propeller. a revolution?

I wonder how he is building those. That would be a tricky thing to produce. Repairs may be almost impossible once it's damaged. Those loops smoothly change in pitch.. A curvy blade is one thing, these curving arches have me stymied for a theory of "How'd he do dat??" I imagine he's using...

    Interesting boats

I thought so. They don't seem as well thought out as lines embedded in the keel, hanging out like that a submerged rock could really ruin your day. Still a very interesting boat!!

    Interesting boats

The engine room makes up for a lot of little faults. Absolutely purty. I'm an electrical builder and the wire routing and neatness of those bundles tells me somebody put a lot of sweat and blood into that engine room. I'm a little puzzled with those coolant pipes or whatever they are running...

    Interesting boats

I was thinking it would be great to have for slow trolling, or easing out of a quiet anchorage without bothering the neighbors. Or anytime you just need to move the boat a little.

    Interesting boats

I just checked Wiki and it said this- "Mature males average 16 metres (52 ft) in length but some may reach 20.5 metres (67 ft)" The females are much smaller. 82' was the estimate the crew of the Essex reported. After he hit them the first time he passed out momentarily and was immobile...

    Interesting boats

I was watching a documentary about the loss of the whaling ship Essex back in 1820. It was only 85 feet long. They sailed that little ship on three year voyages to the South Pacific in those days. I can't imagine the guts and determination it took without electricity, navigational aids...

    Interesting boats

If this thread was "Affordable, sensible boats" Boatruptcy and I would be banned for life. :) It seems any boat bigger than about 79' is a ship.

    Interesting boats

This 79 footer has a bay for storing a 4X4, a garage for the tender in the stern, and pushes all my buttons. Who knows how many millions, but if I had it I would plunk it down and roam the seven seas in this dream boat. It turns (at speed) almost on its axis. I can't find anything about it I...

    Battery Explodes!

I'm glad noone was hurt. Batteries store energy and when it's released all at once, it can be bad. I noticed you said it was a deep cycle battery. Is it not better to use 'starting' batteries for that application, or do lots of boaters use deep cycles to start engines?

    Stay classy, Maryland

That first guy threw something and hit the lady on the head. That's a fightin offense. Those guys need to find a more active hobby or at least rent a bigger boat. I am getting a little fat myself, (not like that hippo) but I would never go without a shirt in public. Put it on over there, boys...

    GA equivalent for paralleled cables?

I can't find my trusty Ugly's Reference book, but 2/0 wire would carry the load of (2) 4 gauge leads if memory serves. It would be better than parallel runs, too. We overbuilt electrical equipment deliberately so I tend to go big. It doesn't hurt to have a little overload insurance and less...

    Interesting boats

Lovely old girl, lots of space for a 35! They sure gave her nice lines, reminds me of that little trawler Rhonda I liked down in Georgia. Only this ones roomier. Sweet dinghy included, too. I see no mention of its hull material, assuming it is a woody?

    Repower Options

In the late '60s my brother and I were fans of Triumph motorcycles, with their Lucas electrics and zener diode voltage regulators. We always had a zener and couple spare headlight bulbs in the drawer. Lucas was called 'the Prince of Darkness' in those days. :D Great machines, those old Triumphs.

    Now this is different.

Why, a tinkerer could putter around in that boat forever. Wiring to tidy up, systems to maintain, all sorts of interesting details to tweak. I like the stove, the space, the shelves and interior are all really clever. And it has a real couch. Ahhhhhhhh, upholstery.. Overall, I think I like it...

How To Tell Electricity Went Off At Boat

I spent a few minutes typing up how to make a simple relay outage timer, then decided to search for a page * to make it easier for you guys to see what I meant, and found something that would work for about $20. Follow this link and you will see there's nothing to it. I like the wall wart angle...

    No microwave oven....???

I don't know about those little boat radar transmitters, but the APA-165 continuous wave transmitter on an F4-D Phantom will heat up a big sammich in 12 seconds. Ask me how I know- :D
