    Marine Trader/Cummins Tach

It occurred to me while out last night that I could just get the part # off of the starboard tach that was replaced by the previous owner several years ago. I was unable to locate the part # of the port oem tach.

    Marine Trader/Cummins Tach

Has anyone come across a source for a tachometer that will fit the Cummins instrument panel of my 1990 Marine Trader Tradewinds? It currently has VDO 4000 RPM units.

    Crazy Tach

If the lower helm tach is correct and the upper is way off it seems as though the problem is at the tach in this instance. Is the sensor reading from the crank or the output shaft at the trans? Or does that vary by application?

    Crazy Tach

    Never mind - stupid question.

    Crazy Tach

At the back of the tach or at the engine?

    Crazy Tach

I have a tach at my upper helm that is progressively getting worse each new season. This year I turned on the ignition to the port engine and the tach jumped to 3000rpm. The lower helm station tach for the same port engine is normal. After starting the engines that faulty tach drops to 2800rpm...

Thanks for the info - beautiful boat.

    Make?

I didn't want to seem too imposing by circling her as the whole family was on the sundeck. So, I didn't catch the name - that would have made it a lot easier though...

Has anyone seen a boat like this and know who the builder is/was? Found this one on the Maggoty River near Annapolis, MD. Paul

    Hour Meters

    Did you try to repair?

    Hour Meters

Thanks - it's actually internal to the tach. The back of the unit has about 8 electrical connections on it - some for backlighting, powering the tach, etc.

    Hour Meters

One of the two meters for my Cummins 6BT-5.9M engines does not work. Is anyone familiar with where the meter gets its signal? And, is it possible to advance the non-working one to more closely reflect actual hours if I can get it working again? Thanks Paul

    Antifreeze Types

Thanks. So there aren't properties of marine A/F that auto A/F doesn't have?
  22. P

    Antifreeze Types

Sorry if this is a repeat - I did a search in the forum but was inconclusive. Is marine antifreeze recommended over products in auto parts stores? Just like everything else marine, antifreeze is 50% more than for autos.

    Teak Help

I've been looking into plasteak for the deck of the flybridge and the swim platform. I do have unfinished teak decking on the sundeck that is easy to maintain but only because it's out of the weather I'm sure. Thanks

    Teak Help

I have teak framed doors leading to the sundeck that were in disrepair when I bought my Marine Trader. The laminated glass has tinting between the layers that has been ruined by years in the sun. And the varnish has not been maintained either. My question is, is there a proper wood filler to use...
