I guess I haven't been paying attention!! Marshall has the Californian name back in a production boat. Can't say it looks anything like ours, but I like the pilothouse design. And the hull continues to be solid Fiberglass construction as all prior Marshall models have been.

Isn't this the same outfit that manufacturers the Navigators? Something strikes me as having heard/seen that.

Anyway nice looking boat.

If they are realted...

There's a navigator 4800 a couple of slips over. Very nice looking boat from the outside. Classic pilothouse design... They always catch my eye.

She's purdy but a little to much fur me.

Gil Marshall, Jule's son, is running Navigator Boats out of the Perris Valley area of southern CA. They bought the Californian name back years ago after company sales to Carver and Wellcraft. The Californians are built in the same factory. There's a charter company in the PNW that charters a 48 Californian. The company name escapes me.

I've been on a 4800 Navigator and REALLY like the PH layout, but it's well beyond my financial reach.

This is from the Navigator/Californian website and tells some of the history of Marshall Boat Company.

The History of Navigator & Californian Yachts
Jule Marshall was raised in Newport Beach, CA (where he still resides with his wife, Bonnie) and oversees the entire boat building operation. Since the early 1960s, Jule has been building fiberglass boats in California for use on the West Coast. Today, much like in the beginning, you will find Jule living out his passion in his Perris, California boat yard. Just as Jules father built boats before him, and now Jule and his son carry on that same tradition.

Navigator & Californian Traditions
Over the past 50 years, the Marshalls have developed and engineered key elements in their yacht designs that are now standard in every model that leaves the assembly line. It is because of these traditions, and the assurance of a top-quality, made in America vessel, that Navigator Yachts has attracted one of the most loyal followings of repeat Navigator & Californian yacht owners.
Solid Fiberglass Hulls...
All Navigator & Californian Yachts are built on a solid fiberglass hull. Unlike many other manufacturers, no core filling is used in any model. This means the hull is stronger, will never soak up water and rot from the inside out, and contributes to the solid and uncompromising feeling that a Navigator Yacht experiences in rough water.
Raised Pilothouse with 360° Visibility...
The lower helm stations featured in all Navigator pilothouse models keep owners cruising all year no matter the weather conditions. The 360° visibility makes for easier docking, enhanced safety, and a more social boating experience as there are no obstructions between the captain and his guests.
Fuel Efficient Hull Design...
Navigator and Californian Yachts’ hull shapes are designed to make the best use of a minimum amount of horsepower and fuel, while retaining the maximum amount of boat speed and efficiency. Navigator Yachts’ hulls are stable at rest and displacement speed, and achieve 30% less wetted running surface when on a plane.
Timeless Lines & Styling...
While some manufacturers are building European-style boats that sacrifice visibility and go out of style within a few years, Navigator Yachts feature timeless lines that look elegant and confident next to any other vessel on the water.
Built for the Pacific Northwest...
Navigator and Californian Yachts are particularly well suited for coastal and inland cruising from Mexico to Alaska. The Pacific Northwest demands much of a vessel, and Navigator Yachts deliver. From their sturdy seaworthy construction, to their excellent visibility and well-appointed pilothouses, Northwest boaters feel at home and safe on a Navigator product.
Semi-Custom Built...
Each and every Navigator and Californian Yacht is semi-custom built. We take the time to listen to your needs, and together with our professional design team, we will design the yacht of your dreams. Should your dream include a motoryacht outside of the range of our models? No problem...we will custom build your entire vessel from the ground up!
Longevity & Value...
Longevity: a yacht that’s built to last.

Value: Navigator is a family owned and operated business that fabricates many components in-house. This adds up to a better product at a lower cost. The Marshall family has consistently strived to achieve the perfect balance between useful equipment, and unnecessary frivolities that drive price up, all without ever sacrificing quality.
Built in the U.S.A...
The Marshall family has been building fiberglass boats in Southern California for over 50 years. At Navigator Yachts, Inc., we would like to thank you for supporting the US economy, American workers, and their families.

Excellent post, thanks for sharing that.

When looking at late model pilothouse boats we were torn between the Navigator 4800 and the Bayliner/Meridian 4788/490.

We chose the Bayliner, but could have easily have chosen a Navigator and been very happy with it. It was a toss up for us, untill the perfect refit/project boat came up on the market.
