Hello All, I am now the proud new owner of a 1984 38' Californian. It is a bit of a project, but has so much potential to be a really great boat, that we couldn't resist. It is powered by twin Crusaders (model 350), and configured with 4 fuel tanks, 2 aft (100 gal ea.) and 2 mid-ship (80 gal ea). The boat sat for some time, and judging from the plumbing for the fuel manifolds, she had some fuel tank issues. We verified that when we put about 20 gallons in each of the two aft tanks, and shortly after, got the strong gas odor. Fortunately, those tanks were pretty easy to find, under the aft cabin bed. The problem is - is there a graceful way to remove the bed frame, to get at the tanks? I hate to tear up that beautiful woodwork, but I am not seeing anything obvious about removing the bed/ or even just the top of the frame. Thanks for any advice from someone who has already been down this path.
