Crossing Sumner St this morning near Pt Baker I saw an AIS from a fishing vessel and a second vessel target labelled " Buoy 2". I thought fishing buoys marking nets or longlines were not allowed under FCC rules. A Google search didn't find any indication of fishing buoys being permitted on AIS frequencies.
Does anyone know the current status of AIS fishing buoys in the US?
