Awesome Menger Tug

Couldn't help but share this with you guys. Menger, a company most known for their Cat boats, began production of small Trawler-Tugs that, through no fault of their own, never made it. *There were four Tugs built, the first one being the plug for the mold, the second and third of which burned in a factory fire, and number four being the only survivor you see here. *During one of my Marina walks in Longboat Key (Gulf Coast, FL), I stumbled upon Jason and Dani, a couple nearly as adorable as the boat itself, and they generously gave me a tour of this unique vessel, the only Menger Tug. *I wish the photos could have been better, but they all had to be done with an I-Phone. *The accompanying literature came off another web-site. *Power is a Yanmar 2GM through an Aquadrive. *Enjoy.

Neat boat. Thanks for sharing. Did they say how fast it went, or how well it handled heavier seas? It looks like a sub 5 knot boat to me, given the hull.

Conrad & Bob: I just sent them a message asking them to join the forum so they could, at least, respond to the questions. They are not live-aboards, but they really do use the boat often. Dani, the Admiral, bought the new Garmin Radar and Chartplotter setup as a present for Jason! I didn't ask if she had a sister (I'm too old anyway). It was great to meet them, and just like you said, Conrad, ....it's great to see such youthful exuberance expressed this way.

or how well it handled heavier seas?

Just look at the thickness of any glass in the pilot house.

1/4 or 3/8 inshore only , never get caught out.

1/2 or 5/8 you may be uncomfortable , but you should live thru it.

Really fine offshore grade marine windows or ports are very expensive, and will never be found on lakes and bays boats.
