Cape Dory 28 trawler

Looking at these boats, most in the market will require shipping by truck.

Does anyone remember what is the clearance for a Flybridge version?

Understand allowed height is 14 ft?

If Flybridge needs to be removed, how involved/complicated is?

I think the flybridge removal is pretty simple. One of those just sold up here and the new owners wanted the flybridge removed. The yard had it off in a couple of hours at most (not including shop time to close up all of the resulting holes, but that wouldn't apply for temporary removal).

still sailing my Cape Dory 30 (sailboat), time to start thinking on a trawler, like Cape Dory 28 as it is quite similar to my current boat and should be plenty for my needs.

The CD 28 is a nice Downeaster based small trawler. I had the gasser version. Others were delivered from the factory with a 100 hp Westerbeke diesel- hull speed only or with a Volvo 200 hp. The Volvo was a bit underpowered to cruise in the mid teens particularly the flybridge model which adds weight and aero drag.

The best by far are those that have been repowered with the Yanmar 240 diesel. Just enough extra power to get up and go.
