I thought many of you in the Seattle area might be interested in this event we're hosting with Richard Bost of M/Y Dauntless as our guest speaker on the 29th:

Tyee Yacht Club is pleased to invite members and the greater Seattle boating community to our Lake Union Clubhouse this coming Monday, July 29 at 7:00 PM to meet Richard Bost and hear about his boating adventures!

As many of your TF members already know, Richard is a meteorologist turned high school principal, turned adventurer. He and his boat “Dauntless”, a 42 foot Kady Krogen, have been featured in numerous boating publications. Together they have crossed the Atlantic twice and gone through the Panama Canal. I hope you will join us to hear about his experiences, stories and lessons learned during his travels plus a whole lot more!

Refreshments will be provided. Space is limited to 100 so please RSVP through Facebook events as soon as possible (or if you're not into Facebook, PM my or reply here)

or PM me directly or post here if you plan to attend.

Just a quick word to say Richard was a delight. It was a bit surreal to spend the day with the guy who peaked my interest in long range trawlers in the first place but to cap it off with a short cruise around Lake Union, a nice dinner and a great talk at Tyee Yacht Club about cruising the world was just amazing.

Funny, humble, honest, informative and inspiring, Richard did not disappoint.

Thanks for putting this together, Airstream345!

Learned a lot from Richard and loved his easy going personality and ability to explain his thought process in getting into long range cruising. Still hard to believe he has traversed the Atlantic twice on his KK42, amazing!

My pleasure and yes, quite impressive to consider doing that on 42.
